. It may not mean anything for Doctor Who, but one thing that does come to mind is that if Torchwood's long mooted return were to actually happen, it seems reasonable to think that the BBC might have him pop up on Who next year in order to help promote a new Torchwood series. . I hope so. Having Jack turn up in a two part finale with The Daleks would be perfect. Maybe even have The Doctor finally pop up in Torchwood. DB, as you're fan of CJ, I was wondering how you'd score or rate each Torchwood story from best to least favourite?

I haven't seen the majority of Torchwood because it aired when I was younger and my parents wouldn't let me watch. I nearly was able to watch Miracle Day until my parents mentioned it to a friend of the family and the friend of the family told them it wasn't appropriate. Thinking about it now, I would have been 15 so they were wrong to not let me watch, and the friend of the family was wrong to say what they did. Maybe I should take said person on Judge Rinder? I have been meaning to catch-up since and managed to watch the entire Children of Earth. I've got Everything Changes on BBC Store to watch.

I am skeptical of the ability of a petition to influence plans for an upcoming series of a show.

I'd prefer an Event Series of Torchwood rather than Jack on Doctor Who to be honest. One that obliquely at least referenced the Committee and so on.

Hello again.
Much as I like the force of nature that is John Barrowman and Captain Jack, I don't think a return to Who next year would be good. Mr Chibnall needs to start again and create new characters for a new era of Who.
This current season seems to be rather like the JNT seasons 20 and 21. Ice Warriors, Two versions of the Master/Missy, Daleks, Mondasian Cybermen and Movellans. It is lovely for long-time fans to see old favourites, but part of Who's charm is its constant reinvention and new ideas. Season 11 is Mr Chibnall's chance to make Dr Who. It will be interesting to see where he goes.
Now, Captain Jack back on BBC 1 in new Torchwood, with a new team of operatives including the newly immortal Rex Matheson yes please! Particularly, if Class isn't renewed. If they got it right, it could do very well. Torchwood 3 was absolutely terrifying and some stories in Torchwood 1 and 2 demonstrated the potential of the series.
If Class is renewed, Miss Quill meeting Captain Jack and/or a new Torchwood team I would love to see. Light the blue touch paper and watch the fireworks...

The man himself is a contradiction
Separately He's Tweeted its nothing to do with DW or TW, Re-Tweeted the latest petition to bring Jack back and that he's back in the UK in the next couple of weeks,
My Guess
BBC Game Show Hosting, talk-show appearances, another book by him and sister, maybe a West End Theatre run, and hopefully a couple of BF Torchwoods,
UK viewers he's also doing a couple of cameos in Keith Lemon's Movie Send ups that will on Saturday Nights on ITV from this week.
Regards

Chibnall: Sure, why not. TV is not a democracy. If they listened to some of their viewers the tenth Doctor and Rose would be back every series. I get that you want to see Jack back, but if Chibnall can't think of a good story to use him for, there's no point. A character should only come back if there's a good story to be told from it, not for the sake of it.

I'd prefer to see a new series of Torchwood on TV and let Chibnall's run breathe a little with fresh characters and ideas for now. This year would have been the best year to have Jack back IMO.

You haven't seen the majority of Torchwood?! Blimey, you do surprise me, the amount you go on about wanting to see more Captain Jack I thought you had seen every TW at least a handful of times already. Perhaps at 15 the series was deemed a little to much for you in 2011 but the following year you were at the start of BBC Three's demographic and deemed suitable for you to look back and catch-up on the episodes from 2006-2009. For someone that claims bringing CJ back will guarantee more viewing figures you're not exactly scrambling to see more of him yourself!?

You don't need to be the man who broke the bank at Monte Carlo for that - less than 9 quid a season on blu, less than a pound an episode? As Doomlord says, it's a bit silly saying how much you want more Jack when you don't buy what's already out there dirt cheap.

Oh well, a more favourable few quid off the RRP might crop up for Whovians in the next 6 years. Personally, I'd bite the bullet and not wait for that fiver off RRP, if it ever comes, just in case the title gets deleted and I then end up having to pay even more.

If you're prepared to go DVD you can seasons 1-3 from CEX for under 15 quid including postage. As is you're missing the vast majority of Captain Jack, which seems bizarre.

While Miracle Day is not the best iteration of Torchwood by any means, I'd say go ahead and get it if one is a big Captain Jack fan as his backstory figures into Miracle Day pretty heavily, especially in the second half of the series (which picks up in quality a bit over the first half, imo).
