While I still prefer the previous cover template, and doubt I'll eer be enamoured with the current logo, the cover for The Dalek Occupation of Winter at least is very good.

I'm in love with these new covers, the new logo works really well on them. Perhaps it's the novelty, but as much as I liked the sidebar, I don't think I'm gonna miss it at all.

Did anyone else notice that the spacesuited figure on An Ideal World is one of the dead crew from Oxygen? It's a bit weird Almost as strange as Hattie Morahan's face superimposed over Peter Capaldi's for the cover of Ship in a Bottle, with the spacesuit clearly being the promo shot for Kill the Moon. I understand that there are a limited number of images in the world, but this particular one is very distracting for me (I'm not sure why...).

VERY excited about these. Ian Potter is rapidly becoming my favorite first Doctor writer and the Khan/Salinsky duo turned in a fantastic story last time around. Jonathan Morris is also fantastic, and I think this may be his first forray into the First Doctor, which is also exciting. That plus a new take on a Dalek story? If I wasn't already sold I think this cast would make it for me.
While I'm excited for this and encourage BF to record as many Vicki/Steven stories as they want in advance I do hope that at some point they can get William Russell or Jean Marsh back, so that we can have another TARDIS team or maybe next time have two Vicki/Steven stories and two Ben/Polly stories. Chapman sold me that he can do the first Doctor well.

Those are some beautiful covers. The new Doctor Who logo has really freshened things up design-wise.

Those are some beautiful covers. The new Doctor Who logo has really freshened things up design-wise. If only for the great refresh of the cover format, I love the new logo. And if it doesn't look good on the covers (see Second Doctor), well now I have the option of using the era logo as a DL only kind of man.

Do we know if BF plans to continue the EA's beyond Series 5? I've not heard any of the range beyond a few trailers/snippets but adore the B+W era of Who and greatly enjoyed the 1st/2nd Dr Lost Stories/CC's I've heard, certainly plan on exploring this range eventually, and I hope they don't plan on sidelining the original 60's actors in favour of recasts...

Doubt it. Bradley's a busy actor and while it's possible their stance might have changed, Big Finish has talked abut how many of the sixties Who actors don't want to act against a recast Doctor. and I can't see the First Doctor Adventures being done without any of the actors blessing. That's not how Big Finish works. Doing a 'season' of EAs suggests to me there are strong plans for the future of First Doctor Early Adventures.

I wonder how far in advance the EA's are recorded? Are the 4th Doctor stories the only range 'banked' many months or even years ahead of release? I do recall reading somewhere a report that Frazer Hines had indicated he wouldn't want to act opposite a recast 2nd Doctor (his impression of Troughton, though remarkable, is just that-an impression and tribute to his old friend and collegue rather than a full blown new interpretation)...

I Think the EA's are only recorded a year or so in advance and you hit the nail on the head both Frasier Hines and Elliott Chapman have said they do interpretations not impersonations I for one am in no hurry for them to stop though.

Fraser Hines is to me the best person outside of maybe Chris Thompson to do the Second Doctor and I actually got him angry on twitter when someone mentioned Thompson should do a Big Finish. I'm excited for at least one or two more sets of the Early Adventures as I've loved what I have heard from them so far.

Does anyone else think something special is happening in episode 4? Since this isn't companion chronicles I think episode 4 could involve an older Vicki. Maybe the crash is in Troy? Since current Maureen is so prominent on the cover I'm certain that Older Vickie will feature in the story some how.
I'm excited

Older Vicki doesn't look very Ancient Greek, though.

The EAs have become an autumn highlight for me and this year looks as exciting as ever - and I love the covers. Much to my surprise I'm not missing the sidebar on these, presumably because for these covers the artists have been designing for a full cover from the outset. (Someone's put the wrong logo on though... )
I couldn't say which of the four I'm most excited about, saying all of them equally is a cop-out but true! But I'm most intrigued by the finale. I think we all knew there had to be something timey-wimey about this story from the title, but now with the cover art too... And the author. I (semi)joked about drawing a diagram to keep track of Time in another Jonathan Morris story*, so I'm hoping for something similar.
{* Timey-Wimey Story Spoiler} 'Vortex Ice' - brilliant!
