I enjoyed the episode. Best of the season.
It was good to see the dalek portrayed as ruthless, intelligent, maniacal and homicidal even without the armour, but there is a reason daleks have casings and I felt it should have been portrayed as more physically weak without it.
I think the subplot was Aaron wore the episode down a bit, especially as the lesson Graham was teaching him didn't become critical to the solution.
I loved the design of the improv-casing the dalek wore at the end, though its a worry that armoured daleks are now easier to defeat than unarmoured ones.

And something I reminded myself this morning was that this New Year's special wasn't even what you might call a 'true' Dalek story, in that we didn't see any 'proper' Daleks. Just a cobbled-together version of the creature. I disagree. What we saw was a proper Dalek, just not in a proper Dalek casing.
To quote somebody who should know their stuff; the casing for the mutant is just a "travel machine" ! Chief Scientist somebody-or-other wasn't it?
Yes that was a Dalek alright; vicious, tentacled and green. Could have done with more revolting smelly-looking slime imo, even the toughest Companions felt their stomachs heave when they opened the casings back in the day.

It had just swum through water which may have cleaned the slime and smell a bit.

On a minor note why did they not use the title sequence if they were confirming the episode as titled Resolution and not Resolution of the Daleks? It was a very tightly-edited episode. Dropped for timing?

Dropped for timing? One or two dropped "Hang on, I've got to get my microwave....well, I say microwave...it's an oven too.." scene and there was plenty of time.

Resolution received an AI score of 80. Joint second lowest of Jodie's era - but since 80 is also what the AMAZING Demons Of The Punjab and It Takes You Away got, I don't care. THat's good company.

The only reason you haven't set off the QI alarm I had ready is that you didn't chose the wifi/conversation scene.

I think that the mob who were collecting alien tech (MDZ?) will be the new Torchwood and an ongoing future threat to the Doctor. They protect humanity from aliens, who else has been involved in Earth history more than any other?

Well, we only got one of those so at least it didn't grate as much as Aaron hauling a microwave round. That may have worked better in Father's Day with Pete Tyler but a 2018 man seemingly quite taken by the power of a microwave....not so much. Wait till he discovers Video+, Sodastreams and a Breville toastie maker. His mind will be blown.

Or Henry Van Statten has his memory back from Series 1 and just has zero luck trying to hoard alien tech when faced with a lone Dalek.

Actually I like the microwave being ridiculously signposted as coming into play later on, it's (not intentionally) much funnier to me than the Wi-Fi or call centre scenes

I would have been very amused if the Doctor's "oh" moment about the microwave in the TARDIS had been the last we heard of it.

I..... completely... disagree....with...you... I.. thought.....it...was.......... brilliant................&...no...we.... don't...all...think...that...about... Bradley....Walsh... Glad you did, even the sewer that was quite obviously not a sewer and excavation of somewhere that had been excavated before and a body that mysteriously found its way 50 foot underground untouched even though it was by a busy road? but not here to spoil anyone’s fun........glad you enjoyed it....... just my thoughts......not there to influence or change anyone’s thoughts....... just my attempt at humour at the omnipresent mr Walsh ...... didn’t say he was bad....... just annoying as he is on everything! Kudos for being prepared to admit it wasn't to your taste. Shame you were 'shut down' somewhat. Interesting post here from twitter: Two types of fans who dislike S11
That is to say there are a lot of fans out there dissatisfied with the current direction but feel chastened owing to the obsessive 'haters' and fervent defenders of the faith on two sides.

Hmmm. I admit, after all the hype I am a bit disappointed. I expected a bit more action, a bit more drama, a bit more heartbreak- after the pictures and the trailers, I just expected just a bit more of everything than was actually offered. It was by no means bad, it certainly looked great, I liked the DIY- look of the Dalek and it was great to finally meet Ryan`s dad. That said... some people have compared this to series 1 "Dalek"... no. For this, it is missing a big part of the emotional trauma the Doctor goes through (which could not be repeated here since the Time War plot has been resolved), for me, it does not really compare. At all. For some reason, "Resolution" stayed a bit too superficial for my tastes- I would have really liked something deeper. But maybe that would have been too bold for the cautious new direction the show has taken? However, I am not giving up hope that maybe in series 12, at least in some episodes, caution is thrown to the winds. On occasion. I am waiting for another bold bonkers episode like "It takes you away". Here is to hope!

I think I fall slightly (not completely) into categroy 1. Although I do not dislike the new direction per se, I just do not feel the same love and enthusiasm I did for the previous series.
I think I REALLY miss Moffat. I came away from series 11 slightly disappointed. That`s all. On the other hand, I cannot get my head around all the pathological hate some people have for series 11, sometimes for reasons outside my grasp. Sometimes I wonder if I have been watching a different show than other people ? Or if iTunes only delivers me the censored versions? Who knows. However, I am very happy that there are also many people who really, really LOVE the new direction the show is taking and I am happy for them. The last thing I want is the show to fail.

I greatly appreciated the way one Dalek was treated as it should. It wasn't clear to me whether it was pre-Time War or what. I do recall a line about early Skaro scouts being sent out, but then...
Well, anyway. The main thing that annoyed me was the impracticality of the ending. I'm sure I'll rewatch it, but the thing I remember is that it looked silly the way the dad didn't fall out, but the Dalek did later, based on how it happened. I recall continually thinking "well damn, this is really good", but then rolling my eyes a bit around the end.
(I could've done without the Ryan-Father thing but whatever).
Note: I really really did enjoy the episode.
