Re- Listen to Cold Fusion. All that stuff about looms (not my cup of tea) aside, great story. I especially love how the 5th Doctor and his crew blunder into the 7th operations, how the different companions interact with each other and how well the differences between the scheming of 7 and the slightly naive cluelessness of 5 are presented. This is pretty fun. Kudos to Peter Davison also for showing a side to the Fifth Doctor with Patience that I don't think we ever get to see again. Not even in Loups-Garoux. Come to think of it, Cold Fusion might be the reason why Five can be so guarded about his feelings sometimes.

J&L 1.4. The Ruthven Inheritance
And then on to either Frozen Time, We are the Daleks or Fiesta of the Damned. Haven't decided yet, but the 7th Doctor guaranteed.

Go for the WE ARE THE DALEKS i found it a fun ride. Fiesta i am going to revisit that whole trilogy as i think it deserves a second shot.

Charlotte Pollard-Vol 2-Part 3/4 Seed of Chaos/The Destructive Quality of Life-Nicholas Briggs
am making no apologies for relistening to these stories as actually growing to enjoy them more than the first set. It is a complicated tale and a totally left field ending but i do enjoy it the acting is great and Charley and her co stars are very very good. and that ending is WTF material

The Holy Terror
All hail the big talking bird! At first, I was excited to get back to Evelyn and I confess I was a little dubious of the fact we'd traded her in for a talking penguin. I'm not at all familiar with the Doctor Who comics, but luckily I became quite taken with Frobisher (and the story as a whole) quite quickly. A great script with intriguing questions, and one of those happy occasions where every single supporting character is perfect. It's quite clever, really, how the story wins you over with the witty black humor and maintains a jovial tone despite the gruesome events, but over time strips it back until you're just left with a horrible, sad situation. By the final scenes you're just poleaxed and hanging on every word. One wonders if "Are you my mummy?" owes anything to The Boy's search for his father. Absolutely incredible work that stands proudly amongst the very best the franchise has to offer on screen or on audio. Stories like this should convince any fan that Big Finish is a worthy addition to the Doctor Who universe. I've finally dug myself out from under the mountain of work I've been dealing with the past few weeks and I plan to put the pedal to the floor for my Big Finish listening over the next little while. This also marks the 20th release I've listened to since starting this quest, and so I've made my current Top 10 because that's what fans do. I've put it under the spoiler tag. {Spoiler} 1. Just War
2. The Holy Terror
3. The Fires of Vulcan
4. The Marian Conspiracy
5. The Spectre of Lanyon Moor
6. The Fearmonger
7. Whispers of Terror
8. The Apocalypse Element
9. Walking to Babylon
10. The Shadow of the Scourge

Heavy week working in Croydon, so plenty of train and evening me time. Finally on to The Legacy of Time and 1.1 Lies in Ruins. Edit: enjoyable first story but I'm not that taken by either River or Benny, 7 out of 10.
1.2. The Split Infinitive. I'm a bit biased because I love Counter Measures, and liked this more than the first story. 8 out of 10.

The Song of Megaptera
Another surprise treat from my 'gap filling' in this range. What a brilliant story, dramatic, full of sharp dialogue, great characters and one-liners and often very funny plus some nods to 'Moby Dick' for good measure. Practically impossible to have made in the classic era, it would all look spectacular with CGI now though!
I'm not usually big on 'causes' but the continued hunting and eating of intelligent life (whether cetaceans or in some parts of the world even primates) is disgusting beyond measure. I was so pleased when the UK helped the IWC push through the commercial whaling moratorium in the 80s which took effect in 1986, just about when we can imagine Pat Mills' great story being broadcast (in this Sixie/Peri version anyway.) And he doesn't go easy on 'indigenous' whaling either, very well done.
Serious subject, but a lot of fun too in this great piece of 'lost' classic Who; I had a whale of a time. (Of course ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/6343532/images/mW7FMmAyG_vqxkNOJyyh.gif) )
