It must have been time for a close re-listen to Time Reef - I don't know why but I didn't even remember that Nyssa was in it, that definitely improved my opinion of it. That might be the first time (maybe the second?) I've heard A Perfect World, I'm really pleased with the way that worked out. That's actually a really good Fifth Doctor release.

On Monday & Tuesday I listened to 'The Nightmare Fair' for the first time since it came out, and enjoyed it (it's a shame Michael Gough was unable to reprise the role but, as he passed a year or two after its release, it's not really a surprise). In/around Guildford today I listened to 'Mission To Magnus' and it's... Fine, I guess? It was nice to hear a Sil/Ice Warrior story, but parts of it certainly feel 'dated' nowadays. Listened to Magnus the other day, wasn't bad I have to admit.

Omega
Another personal 'discovery' from the first 50, the style took me by surprise and I enjoyed it very much. Like 'The Three Doctors' it's tragedy wrapped in comedy and very funny. Great script by Nev Fountain (as always and I wish we had more stories from him) with a reveal I should have seen coming but didn't (as usual) and one or two lines I don't think they'd have got past 'Cardiff' today... ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/6343532/images/IwGTjEvWiMqDCgEk5m52.gif)

Certainly agree on the more 'scripts from Nev Fountain' front but I'm not sure we are on the same wavelength when it comes to the humour in this particular one (said it before and I'll say it again - the world would be a dull old place if we all liked the same thing!). I am curious though as to how you didn't see the reveal coming...😊

Bernice Summerfield and the Summer of Love:
Well, that was definitely an audio. I didn't hate it, but oh it was weird and just a little over the top.

Jago and Litefoot 9-The Flying Frenchman-Jonathan Morris
I immediately wanted to listen to My Tony and Cassandra set 3 but decided thats a lying in bed with lights out listen. So picked a not so random box set from my pile this is one of my Faves J and Ls and a totally stunning cover. These sets are actually ones i would have loved to have as a Special Edition set like the Light at the End/Prisoner 1 type releases. Each one deserves it

The Macros Enjoyed the story overall, the sound design & music are excellent again and I thought the ep1 cliff-hanger was most dramatic, and loved the twist at the end. {Spoiler}I'd expected Osloo to age terminally. How very 'Doctorish' that he instead engineered her reversion to babyhood so she could grow up differently. A second chance for anyone, no matter how evil. He really is 'a good man'. It's a clever title, quite 'early Who' in being the name of the aliens {Spoiler}with the twist that the Macros are us! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/6343532/images/mW7FMmAyG_vqxkNOJyyh.gif) and the timey-wimey elements also worked well. In fact I thought the only down point was Osloo, very much a 'stock villain of the week'. But on the other hand the Doctor does say to her that he's met so many despots just like her, she's nothing special. So I wonder if that 'unremarkableness' was deliberate? I Think its a great story and very atmospheric the first two episodes..and agree about Osloo..but still a well realised audio

But saw some reviews which say that Colin is great in it, and it is dark and emotional. So I downloaded it onto the ipad to check it out.
Can't be too bad if Colin is in it.

Can't be too bad if Colin is in it. I enjoyed it when i heard it so am sure you wont be disappointed and once you join all the dots its actually not bad to listen to the eminence stories again,it was a brave attempt to create an interesting monster and at least one unique to BF like the Ravenous.

Storm Warning
The best Doctor arrives on audio at last. What coup it was to get Paul McGann to return. And what a feather in Big Finish's cap to be the only company producing new Doctor Who episodes featuring the incumbent Doctor. Not only that, it's the patented BF Second ChanceTM to show off just how good a Doctor TV viewers had missed out on.
What a wonderful companion they gave him in Charley. I know that many feel she lingered on too long, and I can certainly see that (between Scherzo and The Girl Who Never Was I agree she kind of lost her luster). But here, she is an instantly likeable and capable pal. She's got moxy.
I'm quite a fan of Eight's theme tune here. It's got a certain air of dark mystery to it, and it suits this incarnation's style so well. And then there's the oddly soothing soundscape of the McGann console room...
Now, the actual story in and of itself aboard the R101 with the Triskeli and all that comes in a little shy of greatness, though it is quite good. And a +1 bonus for including airships and zeppelins because they're cool as hell. Rathbone is probably the most memorable aspect of this plotline; he's a thoroughly enjoyable rotter and meets a spectacular demise.
But, all in all, it's nearly impossible for me to separate in my mind the story from all the firsts on offer here, not to mention the arc it began. This really does feel like a series premiere.

Great job on summing it up. These are exactly the points that make it so appealing and wonderful. And I do love the theme tune... my favorite.
