The Shape of Things to Come. Any good? Had this on my ipad on the list since I bought it on special but have not listened to it yet because I fear it might be overwhelming propaganda... Thoughts?

I think tonight I am going to start with Sophie Aldred reading "At Childhood's End" since that got quite good reviews and it just fits my current mood...

Abbey of Heretics by Lizbeth Myles
The second story from Diary of River Song Series 7, Abbey of Heretics is much better than I had anticipated. I was worried it would be to dragged down in the religious ideology for myself, but I found Myles found a suitable line to walk upon with it. Standouts in the cast were Alex Kingston of course(doing a fish out of water River quite well), and Jaye Griffiths as Sister Ursula, which as a character is one of the best developed characters in a single story in a long time. I also found the sound design to be really evocative of the setting, and engrossed me to an extent I was not expecting. Even better than Colony of Strangers, and one I was not expecting to enjoy as much.
The Psychic Circus by Stephen Wyatt
I enjoyed this one, but I can't say it was anything more than good. Like many have said James Dreyfuss' Master felt tacked on, and I thought it was a serviceable, but average performance. The rest of the cast were excellent though, especially Ian Reddignton and Chris Jury, who returned to there roles effortlessly. Loved having the Ragnarok Gods involved, but I wish they would have had a bigger role, only because of how much I love the idea of them as characters. Wyatt's script is pretty good for a first time back after 30 years, if a bit too self-referential. And McCoy is very well written here, and manages to carry scenes all by himself. Sound design was a bit muddled at times but overall it is well produced with good direction from Samuel Clemens.

Project Lazarus
Sort of an unusual multi-doctor story where it's split in half between Six and Seven instead of a grand team-up against a universal threat. I rather like that idea, though in this situation I'm not so sure it was necessary to add another Doctor to the mix.
Sixie's half was very, very good. I quite enjoyed Project Twilight, so I was quite keen to pick up that thread again and reunite with Cassie. But boy, have things gone wrong, and by the end of Part 2, I was about ready to cry. And Cassie's not the only one; Evelyn has some unpleasant news as well. Which is awful, because I've become quite attached to her. Add to that Seven's hints about things not ending amicably with her, and I'm a little distraught over the whole affair. Great stuff!
Speaking of Seven, his half of the story is much less interesting. All of the high drama was already given to Colin, so Sylvester is basically acting as the cleanup crew. Yeah, there's the cloning stuff, but it just doesn't have the same punch. So Parts 3 and 4 are a more typical, albeit enjoyable, bad guy base type of story.
So one half great, one half average. Difficult for an overall assessment given the split. I'm extremely curious where the Forge storyline goes from here. It's been very engaging so far.
Flip Flop is up next, and I wanted to ask, black first or white first, for a first listen?

Hello again.
Following my listen to the Doctor Who plays which were really interesting I am now journeying into the Unbound universes.
Auld Mortality. Wonderful, lightly takes elements of Marc Platt's Lungbarrow and weaves a fascinating portrait of an alternative Doctor.
Geoffrey Bayldon shows he would have made a great Doctor. Susan shows more of how she was originally conceived. Quences and Badger add depth to the story.
I really enjoyed this great alternative to the First Doctor. It's a fascinating tale of possibilities, story-telling and the quest for adventure.

I love it, it's brilliant and imo has some of Guy Adams' best writing - which as any BF fan will know is high praise! I enjoyed every minute - and politically I couldn't disagree with Wells' very undemocratic extreme-left vision much more if I tried! (The actually offensive - rather than merely controversial - views expressed in a few parts of the novel have naturally been cut out, thank goodness.)
What we get is a superb, ingenious adaptation of a very challenging (politically and structurally) novel and a gripping adventure story which adds and uses a more science-fiction approach than Wells did and does it excellently. Nicola Walker and Sam Troughton give superb central performances, and all the myriad guest characters too.

Zaltys was on the docket today. I like this release a lot. I think it particularly shines with the attention it pays to Adric and Tegan, who have some great exchanges.

And obviously I would love to hear exactly how my Doctor and Jo got that villain so upset

The Lives of Captain Jack 3 : R+J
I can't say much without spoilers, Sweeties - and it's far too good for that! Very complicated & very clever story by James Goss and loads of fun. John and Alex are just as brilliant together as we all knew they would be, in a complex temporal event in audio form and one to revisit many times! Who needs a vortex manipulator? We have 'rewind'

Today I am listening to Barnaby Edwards' lovingly put together adaption of Phantom of the Opera, thanks for asking.
It's a beautifully crafted audio and really kickstarted the BF 'classics' and 'horror' range in fine style. From the offset, it is a classy piece of work and it remains that way throughout. And what a cast! Anna Massey, Rcihard Earl, Helen Goldwyn, Nick Brimble and as the silky-voiced titular character, Peter Guinness. Perfect casting!

Zagreus, from the early time Zagreus, after 49 Zagreus, an adventure that I'm sure I'll be repeating! It took a while to get through 'cause it's an epic... and it does some very unexpected things... and I loved it!
Now on with my journey through the unknown (by me) early MR... into The Divergent Universe...

So I've been listening to The Burning Prince by: John Dorney which apparently nobody talks about. Like this was the first story in a 2012 trilogy that I don't even think has a thread here. I've been enjoying it, very political mixed with a bunch of stock Doctor Who story types making each episode interesting.
