Listened to UNIT extinction yesterday during train and flight. This is actually quite a good story. Very gripping action story. For me, one of the better UNIT releases- I find them a bit hit and miss, this is why I waited so long to pick this one up.
What I found a bit distracts- Nick Briggs playing several different roles. Yes, he varies his accent, but by now, I know his voice so well.... it does not work for me anymore.

Taking a crack at my 60th anniversary playlist.
Just finished up To The Death, now onto The Crash of the uk 201.
The logic is each story in the playlist has a counterpart in the original series run. Lucie Miller/To the Death stands in for the Dalek invasion of earth and UK201 stands in for the Rescue.
I'll admit, finding analogs that tie into/are derived from historicals has been difficult for most of them.

Listened to some Companion Chronicles during my train journey south. Nights black agents was alright- it was certainly well performed and the villain was intense. But the story itself was a bit been there, done that. Ringpullworld was better, also performed well and using the interesting audio device of the narrators. I give it a bonus for originality.
And then I listened to Sons of Kaldor.... I assume this is a prelude for the Robots series. Presenting us with the idea of the sentient robots and the rebel group of the sons of Kaldor. It was not bad, and Leela is my personal highlight here. It is just not as intense and gripping as the robot series is and yes, I speak heresy, but I still prefer Liv to Leela.
And now I think I will make a start on the latest 9th Doctor release.

3DAs - The Unzal Incursion by Mark Wright.
I can't get enough of these wonderful 3DAs at the moment. I'd love a couple of gritty Series 7-type tales featuring Tim and Daisy - but this one will (more than) do for now.

We return back to the Tony and Cassandra Mysteries with…
The Mystery of the Fisherman’s Wife (Jessica Smith)
I liked the story but I couldn’t help but be distracted by the fact that one character just sounded like he was doing a bad Tommy Cooper impression.

Making my way through the latest 9th Doctor release. And it is great. For me, they are back to old form. Just started on the third story, and I adore the characters, especially the talking dog. I think they are lucky there are no squirrels on that planet....

The Diary of River Song : Friend of the Family
Just over a week ago I settled down for the evening to listen to this. As of today I've managed about ten minutes..🤦♂️
So..Phone is off cradle. Mobile switched off. Emails all answered. Daughter sufficiently occupied. Mum's Internet queries answered. All family dramas sorted. Neighbour's mini crisis fixed. And most importantly Chinese takeaway ordered.
Come hell or high water I am listening to this boxset in it's entirety...

Well, today I was ALL DAY playing around and assembling my shopping which I did when I visited Warhammer World the day before yesterday. So I did listen to a lot of stories!
I finished the latest 9th Doctor release.
I re-listened to "10th Doctor and River Song"- which is still a LOT of fun and just a joy to listen to. So much positive energy!
And then I got out "The Lives of Captain Jack 3"- I still enjoy the story with Jack and Jackie and of course "R&J" is an amazingly clever romp.

Partly because I've had today off from work, today & yesterday I've listened to both series of 'The Churchill Years' (the latter for the first time), and whilst I didn't DISlike them or anything? I don't think they're something that I would actively sit down to listen to 'regularly'...
That said though, depending on the story? Yeah, I'd happily listen to the occasional story with Ian McNeice as Winston Churchill...
