has the world cone mad! they bbc are doing a vinyl now! The BBC have never really stopped Doctor Who vinyl releases - usually under licence to Silva Screen - but they have generally been soundtrack releases, like the Caves of Androzani and Ghost Light LP's a couple of years ago. Will have to buy the Genesis of the Daleks re-release too... even though I still have the original LP!

These are far too expensive for me, but if they bring in more revenue for Big Finish, I'm hardly going to complain.

Though I'm tempted, I've got to admit that it's all in all a bit too strong for me. Besides, I'd have nothing to play it on.
It's a funny old trend though, any idea where it's coming from?

I have no interest in vinyl, but it is nice to see Big Finish offering something different. TLATE sold out on vinyl so there is obviously a market.
Loving the Paul McGann artwork and fingers crossed that they will do a CD special edition re-issue of the first two series of Charley and the Eighth Doctor with new artwork and lots of extras, so that I can justify buying them all again!

I'm more interested in the re-release of original vinyls than the new Big Finish stuff, but I can't find anyon quoting a price for it.

What are these bonuses everyone is going on about? There weren't any interviews or music suites back in 2002.

Could be a retrospective or two. It depends how long the vinyls have been in development. There could be a piece with India Fisher if this was planned for as early as the last time she was recording (I think that's last year's Short Trip or Charlotte Pollard Series Two). Fun fact: The Chimes of Midnight was the first story to have India Fisher's face on the cover.

Well they are only selling 500 so obviously this is for the extreme collector.
I just hope they release a CD version for us mere mortals.

As a download customer I just hope we can get downloads of the extras. Also I would get them if it weren't for the price tag and the fact I live in America so it would be all too easy for them to be broken on the way

I would not have a problem if Big Finish started going back to certain key releases and spruced them up with additional features and released them as three or four disc special editions. I would think Chimes of Midnight and Spare Parts would snugly fit in that list of key releases from their long history.

it would be all too easy for them to be broken on the way Rest assured Big Finish would reputably cover the buyer. And, I suspect Big Finish will be exercising extra care packing these expensive LP merchandises for the benefit of them the seller and their customers.

Surely repressing a limited run of popular stories as CDs would be better, as far more people can play CDs and it would work out a lot more cheaper for individual customers, not to mention easier to send out. As mentioned above, vinyl can be fragile and record players aren't as readily available as CD players.
There's also the fact that people like to have their collections looking consistent.
So basically, I'm nitpicking. It's great that Big Finish are repressing these two stories in some form at all, and vinyl offers a collectors value. Just as long as the new bonus features aren't exclusive to a $165 vinyl physical product.
On another note, I can finally spell vinyl without worrying about misspelling it. It's like when I could finally spell the word Viyran correctly.

While I'm sure the exchange rate and shipping cost would forbid any physical purchase, I would definitely be more inclined to purchase a Book-style CD release a la The Last Adventure/Tenth Doctor/Worlds of DW/TLATE.

I'd buy it just for the artwork! I'd buy the artwork if they would offer a print of it. Me too.

On paper these are for me.
I adore vinyl, I love Big Finish and I'm an obssevive Who fan, but at that price I just can't justify them. My other half has put his foot down as well, he's usually quite patient with my obsessions but has been quite vocal about these and their price today. I'd be in lots of trouble if I succumbed and parted with the 'pennies'.
I'm sure all 1000 will find happy homes with owners who will love them, just won't be in mine unfortunately.

I have zero problem with this or the price. Vinyl has had a resurgence in the past few years. I only wish I could afford it. When the likes of Zeppelin floyd Metallica etc can charge 100 to 200 quid for special vinyl box sets of just 1 40 minute album it makes you realise it isn't as overpriced as you would think. Only a small amount will be getting made and it will become a collectable and more pricey when it sells out
