Now available for a whopping £79 pre-order (£89 on release), no more than 500 limited vinyl editions of Chines of Midnight and Spare Parts! www.bigfinish.com/news/v/doctor-who-limited-vinyl-editionsThey're $150 for Canada so I won't personally be grabbing a copy of Chimes as much as I'd love one - the cover artwork looks fantastic!

I really want these (especially Chimes) but yes they are very expensive. And I am not sure I can justify the expense. I can't even play Vinyl.
Although I wish the extras could at least be available via a DL purchase. I'd spend extra money for that.

I really don't see the point. A reissue of the CDs with the new artwork maybe. Meh. Surely they have better things to be doing?

And thus begins a debate/argument between the completionist and realist sides of me.
Completionist: Can I get this please? Please?! Realist: No. Completionist: Why not? Realist: We don't even have a record player? Completionist: That didn't stop us buying the Light at the End on vinyl. Realist: That was only £7.99 due to a misprice on Amazon. Completionist: We got the Pescatons on vinyl too recently. Realist: Also dead cheap from eBay. These are £79. Each! Completionist: We also have a Radiohead album on vinyl. Maybe this expense would finally make us buy a record player. Realist: I'll think about it.
Who will win? My money's on completionist me.

Really really strange idea. There must be quite a lot of extras though, the episodes would presumably fit on two albums.
I'm guessing a third album of interviews, and a fourth of trailers (of the Prisoner)
I guess I could understand this more with other special releases, like The Last Adventure, but despite them being top in the top 20 poll, at the end of the day, these are just 2 out of over 200 main range titles, which makes it feel really random.

I expect their ranking is what caused these 2 being chosen. It's nice to see two such popular releases being reissued again. That being said I kind of wish they did a LE on CD as well (like with Light at the End) which would still be very nice but just a bit less expensive that this. I mean it doesn't seem right to pay this much for something I can't even enjoy (well besides it sitting beautifully on my shelf). And not to mention I just really want those extras.

See, I'm not an extras person. Immediately on completing my downloads I delete all the extras! Even with my DVD collection the majority of extras go unwatched. I don't listen to commentaries, the one thing I do like is the behind the scenes information subtitles on DVDs. I can't keep up with watching and listening to all the actual stories, let alone the extras.

I really don't see the point. A reissue of the CDs with the new artwork maybe. Meh. Surely they have better things to be doing? If they reissued McGann's first 12 stories on CD I'd definitely purchase them, but yeah this seems kinda...random, the artwork and extras are certainly tempting, but I can't play vinyl and I couldn't justify that amount of money for one release even if I was able to play it, nice gesture and the artwork looks really cool, but it's not for me personally. Surprising and expensive, if interesting idea...do we know how well The Light At The End vinyl sold? A little weird it still says: Both stories are still available to order as downloads for just £2.99 each on the same page...I often have to defend B.F's prices on other forums, and this dosen't completely help (though obviously, vinyl can't be cheap to produce anymore)

don't see the point in these at all. vinyl? ?? what next mini disc, 8 track, 78's. nice to see new artwork but would rather have a framed print than a useless black disk. let alone a price, a big misfire from BF guys now CD only special edition re-release I could understand.

I'd buy it just for the artwork! I'd buy the artwork if they would offer a print of it.

The last time this was talked about was almost 3 years ago.
It would almost make more sense to re-issue them on CD!
EDIT New features as well bit miffed about that although it say DL Versions of these are available. Maybe next year BF'll make these New DL available to all, with the Bonus Content Included?

It is indeed an odd thing. Are those purchasing this item doing so because they like the sound of vinyl? I must admit I like the idea of hearing these from a record player, but as an expensive experiment not so sure?

In a word: COOL! Will buy these, I still have a good Hi-Fi set up for LP's, and these look like they will be nice items for BF collectors. So people don't have to buy them if they don't want to, but count me in. We've had Doctor Who Main Range releases on cassette tape, CD, digital downloads and now, LP's... It really is tea time in 1977 again!

has the world cone mad! they bbc are doing a vinyl now! www.doctorwhonews.net/2016/03/genesis-back-on-vinyl-090316133008.htmlquite a few have expressed an interest in these too....confounds me... wonder if the same people will be the ones who moan about the next hinchcliffe etc being too expensive? (not meaning anyone in particular on here....only noticed someone on facebook posted they are getting these, was the same person who wanted a sale a couple of weeks ago because they could not afford at full price!)
