What's next - Jago and Litefoot on Gramophone? On wax cylinder maybe? The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing did a wax cylinder a few years ago. www.bbc.co.uk/news/10171129

has the world cone mad! they bbc are doing a vinyl now! The BBC have never really stopped Doctor Who vinyl releases - usually under licence to Silva Screen - but they have generally been soundtrack releases, like the Caves of Androzani and Ghost Light LP's a couple of years ago. Will have to buy the Genesis of the Daleks re-release too... even though I still have the original LP! Yeah, I've got Genesis and Pescatons LPs, and I play them regularly. I got Caves of Androzani on the purple vinyl, and I've pre ordered both Chimes of Midnight and Spare Parts. Who was it who bought Light at the End on vinyl then, if there are so many negative comments about releases on vinyl. I don't understand the people who will buy these, but never play them though.

No...Just...No. This isn't worth the price. I'm sorry BF, but it's not. I bought the Vinyl LATE, and I don't regret it. But for the love of...Just...No...
*sigh*

I feel your passion on wanting some of the "best of the best" Main Range stories on vinyl. It's a niche market product and you clearly understand that one has to be prepared to payout for it. We have both sometimes grumbled about Big Finish pricing in the past (e.g. Philip Hinchcliffe Presents). I've now amended my viewpoint about that release being expensive - I'll gladly pay whatever Big Finish asks for another Hinchcliffe Fourth Doctor outing! The moral is to be grateful for the options. I'd like to see those on CD too! For me, those Main Range classics (like Chimes of Midnight and Spare Parts) should never be out of print and download only, they are classic Doctor Who audio stories that Big Finish have every right to be proud of. So in 2016 they are just ripe for Special Edition CD re-releases with new extras and updated artwork... If Big Finish can't milk their back catalogue, who can? As I've previously mentioned, I think it will be *very likely* that we will be seeing these Main Range classics re-released on CD. However, I should be careful what I wish for as for me to double dip purchase, I could be ultimately paying £15-£45 + shipping mainly for a desired retrospective interview and a music suite that I generally don't fully appreciate like some others do. At least with vinyl you can somewhat justify the expense with its different sound experience provided. I guess you're taking a financially responsible family man "timeout" buying these Doctor Who records? Baked beans for the missus tonight!

At Regeneration Who 2 this past weekend, Jason Haigh-Ellery said that the 500 copies of Light at the End on vinyl sold out in 2 months. They are going after the same collector that bought those. They will be on heavy vinyl and they are working to make a quality collectible product. They are definitely going to be limited and more vinyl copies of these will not be made to preserve the collectible factor for those who pay so much for them. Such a limited run has quite high costs, but I presume that they don't think they would sell enough of a larger run to reduce those costs significantly.
I did not get a chance to ask whether those subscribers who bought these on CD all so long ago will get a chance at the new interviews, but I wouldn't be surprised if we will.
P.S. I thought I did hear some people in the audience sound like they were interested in these new vinyl releases.

If ever there were two Big Finish stories that would withstand my inability to take proper care of vinyl, it would be these two - but given an inability to take proper care of vinyl, they probably wouldn't be very smart purchases for me to make. I'd just buy them and ruin them as I have with all of their kind before them. Lots of fun to daydream about plopping one onto the old Victrola on a dark and stormy night though. :-)

Spare Parts is a great story whatever format it is released on. A definite 10/10 Big Finish story.

How do the behind-the-scenes materials stack up against a modern BF release?
