Ok folks. It's been a busy day. Yes, that comment was from my interview. But here's a little more context. Firstly, Jason apologized again for this whole mess, and explained why they needed to upgrage the website. They want and need to do a lot more outreach on social media and are unable to at this time. This current site main core programming is from 2011 and is just completely out of date. He was limited regarding what he could say publically due to "certain things happening", or something to that affect. I believe there are lawsuits and he just can't speak about the details. Yes, it will be at least 6 month before they can again go live with the new website. During that time there will be changes made and A LOT of testing. Part of that testing will include costumers and fans who volunteer as testers. They will ask these volunteers at some point to all try and log on to the site at the same time, as a test, to see how well the site can handle fast and large changes in volume. And there will be other tests along the way. So it seems that they will be looking for a good amount of beta testers. Thanks for the update & asking JHE about the website/app. Strange that he says they are unable to do more outreach on social media even though he recognises they should do. This area has always been a big failing on their part & yet seems like a relatively easy fix. Was the interview or any of this event recorded?

I would be shocked if any lawsuits are successful. Based on the new website and app as-is, there was no testing done whatsoever on Big Finish’s side. And many of the issues related to the site were less bugs and more a lack of features, which typically means a lack of requirements. Any development or managed service company, even with a templated contract, will put the onus onto the customer, in this case BF, as much as possible to evade these things. At best they may get this new batch of work done discounted or as a courtesy.
I don’t think getting customers involved to stress load the site will work how they think it will. That’s a hell of a lot of organising, with no guarantee on it achieving the results. You simply won’t get as many volunteers as who would be attracted to the site when, say, Matt Smith is announced to do 11DAs. These can be fabricated to much better results through scripting and they can use past data (e.g. the number of site hits when the Jodie & Mandip news landed) to understand what type of numbers they’re looking at.

Surprised there's potential legal action, surely its Foolproof "This is what we wanted it to look like (let alone Function), it didn't, either you fix or we withhold money" and as for no Testing the initial pre warning of the 25th July 2024 [now missing] had "This new Website has been in development over 2 Years and has had 3 months Beta Testing".

well i DL every thing i got from the website and new hard drive as back up mainy because of DL from the new website were all numbers

I believe there was a lot more going on behind the scenes than we are aware of. A whole lot more. A lot more interneal testing, probably along the lines of what shallacatop mentioned. We just don't know because they are internal matters that they don't necessarily share with the public. A taka away I got from the short time I spent with him is that he is extrememly proud of the company and feels like a fan of his own product. He is also massively busy and is working on a lot of things.
Yes, I did record it for myself and promised him I would not be loading it on social media or I would not have been able to. So, unlike the Gary Russell interview which I put up on YouTube last year, I won't be able to do that this year.

Fiddling around with various items... I guess with the rollback to the old site, that means they've likewise pushed back implementation of the new bundling/discount system? I guess the way the website was set up they were given some very bad advice about how good it was going to be (so i fully understand why they can not say any more) I mean, I get the inclination to absolve Big Finish of blame here, but really, shouldn't they have been able to preview the new site -- and see for themselves the state it was in -- before taking it public? If they were acting responsibly in the first place, there's no way they could've been blindsided by all this.

I doubt that we'll see those again until they re-roll the new site out (so, 2025 or later, based on second-hand comments here).

We would like to thank our customers who have stuck with us as we dealt with a ‘perfect storm’ of unexpected technical issues with our website and App. As most of you know, the launch of a new website and App at the end of July caused a multitude of problems, which led us to take the step of ‘rolling back’ to our original website and App on August 15th. While this ensured that all of our customers could once again access their libraries via their accounts on the website, it unfortunately caused a new problem for many of our most loyal customers – the inability to fully access their large libraries via the App. Since the 15th, with very limited resources at hand, we’ve been investigating ways to help those customers regain full access. It hasn’t been until now that we’ve had success, which is why there hasn’t been any news to share. Our tech team now believe they have a 'behind-the-scenes' fix which will enable large library customers to do a proper sync-up before their device times-out, but it requires us to take the website off-line at 11pm tonight (UK time). We estimate it will be down for about 10 minutes. We ask everyone to avoid refreshing the app immediately. This will help us ensure a smoother experience for all users. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Maybe I'll be able to download to my app! Woo!
