There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Because we all know how much Doctor Who fans just LOVE comedy in the show. I think it would be great but that is just me. And you & you. Except when it's by Douglas Adams. Or Robert Holmes. Or Dennis Spooner. Just not when anyone who's currently involved in the show does it (for a given value of "current") I love it when Doctor Who does comedy (so that's 4 of us). And drama. And horror. And fantasy. And SF. But only if it has some great writing and performance behind it.

As long as great writing and acting is behind it, Doctor Who can be what ever it wants to be and that is the utter joy of it. Doctor Who thrives on changing constantly and that is why it has survived for so long. Some people love what is happening and some don't, but the people who don't can come back later as it will have changed.

The Pirates... Not an ocean of it though. Comedy is much, much more subjective than drama and more than half of the time, it just doesn't hit its mark. I'm not just talking about the Moffat era here either, The Heroes of Sontar is a marvellous story by Alan Barnes where a lot of the jokes just make me feel awkward. When it's not funny... Well, it's not funny and there's nothing that can really be done about that as a viewer/listener. Still, Rowan Atkinson meet Nev Fountain. Nev Fountain meet Rowan Atkinson. Go nuts. Yeah, that's the problem with comedy. What you find funny another person can find forced or awkward.

A sequel to Curse would be gold though, could even update it to satire modern Who- The Perpetual Arc of Doom
