Ralf Little was a lazy shite, he didn't even make the Doctor & Bill a cup of tea.

That was the finest episode titled Smile that I’ve ever seen! And the other one even had David Tennant! I liked the bit about Mister Fantastic/Stretchy arms. Bill is a lot of fun.
And Nardole wears out his welcome in the thirty seconds we see him. He’s just a pest and I’m already sick of all this portentous talk of the oath.
I did like Bill’s response when the Doctor asked her where she wanted to go. “The future. I want to see if it's happy.” It gives some nice insight into Bill’s mindset and it also makes it seem logical that they wound up where they did.
“Is this a bloke Utopia?” Ha ha! Never change, Bill!
I liked the Doctor’s line where he observes that if the monster is a slow there’s a reason that they don’t have to run.
However, and I feel that this has been a recurring problem on the revived series, the stakes are too high. The Doctor seems to imply at one point that the future of the human race hinges on this colony. I don’t think that’s necessary, and it has the effect of lowering the tension.
Further, he’s shockingly ignorant of such a pivotal point. It seems a bit contrived that the only thing he knew about it (and indeed, the stated reason for going there) is that he’s under the impression that they had discovered the secret of human happiness. But how would it have developed that reputation?
I know, a lot of Doctor Who doesn’t hold up well under scrutiny, MST3K song and all that, but this episode seems worst than most in that regard.
On the other hand, I tend to prefer episodes where the conflict arises from misunderstanding rather than malice, and we got that here, so that was nice.
The ending bothered me. It’s fairly well known that the word “robot” is derived from the Czech word for “slave”, but it’s silly to make the analogy of employing robots to owning slaves, particularly when it hinges on the unforeseeable development that the robots would become self-aware.
Overall, maybe a 6/10. I saw a review that said Bill and the Doctor make even mediocre Doctor Who watchable and I agree that’s what was going on here. The plot was dopey, but I had a decent enough time when I was watching it.

People need to stop making robots look like people.
It's harder to hate a squat robot than a dishwasher

That's a recurring problem under Moffat. He has some character, almost always the Doctor, announce for the audience's sake that they're about to go to, or face, the adjective+est noun In. The. UNIVERSE!
That, or saving the universe. (S5).
Of course, the original run was also guilty of this kind of thing at times. I recall some or other episode with Davison, where he turns to the camera at some point and announces that if a ship spills its fuel at a certain point, it'll destroy the universe.

The robots with their emoji faces were quite creepy, to me. Especially the fake smilie face, cause you knew it could change in the blink of an eye to something more sinister.
Overall, enjoyed the episode, especially Bill's interaction with the Doctor.
The ending/resolution of the episode could have been better developed, but there was definitely not enough material there to turn it into a two-parter.

UNIVERSE!A friend of mine who has the most tranquil demeanor I've ever seen and who isn't all that big a fan of Doctor Who on top of that got honestly angry at The Girl Who Lived. "It gave us yet another ‘most dangerous warrior race in the galaxy’ which gets defeated in a manner that wouldn't fool a kindergartner!"

Still not seen this yet. Maybe later. Maybe tomorrow Shall I hand in my fan card? I finally got round to watching it. You're not missing much. Most of the episode was filler and the Doctor solves everything by pulling out his screwdriver, rebooting the system and telling everyone to just negotiate a la Day of the Doctor. Seriously, he could have done that ten minutes in and saved us the bother.
