I think if it is The Doctor it is more likely to be 13, because 12 doesn't want to regenerate and he's trying to hide the truth that he will at some point from himself. He's trying to pretend he doesn't know that he will regenerate. Or, in the vault is The Watcher that will become 13, because the Doctor knows a catastrophe is coming and this time he has prepared for that moment, with the ultimate 'get out of jail card' ready and waiting... The Watcher is a good call. I could see that.

Glad it had the cliff-hanger otherwise would've been hung up on a couple of plot holes.
Great performances as usual, but again I'm not sure why anyone who has a more valid or harsher point than the Doctor is portrayed as sarcastic,

So far, every single episode of this series of Doctor Who has been a zinger. A corker. A belter. Really exceptional. Absolutely brilliant and a VERY effective cliffhanger. Nardole is beginning to become a bigger, more substantial character and less comedic - as we all knew he would. As I say, it's about thime this series had a duff episode. I might write to the BBC and complain ...

Hello again.
Umm, I wasn't expecting that. A really interesting base under siege story. Only two survivors and an injured Doctor. Excellent direction, music once again good and Matt Lucas really giving Nardole some bite.
Nice to see the sonic getting the boot for once. Delighted to see the Doctor really having to fight to win the day. Bill superb, really showing fear when things go bad.
Real contrast to last week. Enjoyed the lecture scene and wondering how the injured Doctor will prevail next week... Can't wait!

Well that was a twist and a half.
Really solidly done episode. Reall thought into the predicament, Holmes-levels of world-building (the map was dotted with average number of breaths for each section), and a resolution that worked with everything established before and wasn't rushed.
And the sonic was destroyed, let's keep it that way for a while.

Fantastic concept with an inventive spin on the monsters, a few really suspenseful sequences and some chilling moments between the Doctor and Bill. However, while probably better structured than Girl Who Waited, I find this is Matheson's weakest episode. The supporting cast are bland redshirts, which in turn hurts the suspense as you don't care about most of the people, and it feels truncated to make room for more foreshadowing of the rest of the series' arc. It feels like a so-so reheat of Ark in Space, Silence in the Library and Sleep No More.
Plus, cash in your bets as its painfully obvious who's in the vault, and I doubt they'll keep it going after next week.
Oh, and the TAF review is coming soon. No surprises there.

What happened to Purdah?
Who will be more offended by this Typical BBC Bias - the capitalists labelled as evil, or the socialists who clearly won't put an end to capitalism for hundreds of years?
(But, yeah. Best episode so far, even if we've seen Moffaty walking corpses before. And Matt Lucas is excellent. My prediction is he's going to be the next comic to move into a big mainstream acting career)

Have we not seen a very similar story before?
I enjoyed it, again felt too much story for the running time.
Nice to see nardole, I am really warming to him.....but if he is an android as it keeps hinting at.....why would he need a space suit?
Why were we not having this kind of series for all of capaldis reign......it just goes to show how hampered he was by the half hearted companion Clara became.
Still really enjoying this series.
oh yeah and nice only to have bill reset at the end.

Not sure what I thought of that, it was a certainly a well made episode-good pacing, superb characterization for the leads, very tense and atmospheric direction and a nice balance between scares and humour...but to be honest it just left me a bit cold, a bit talky/preacy in parts...might have to rewatch it to grade it...
That ending though...surely it won't be a permanent thing?
On the other hand, so glad to see the sonic destroyed again...I certainly hope that is more permanent...

Probably the best episode since Sleep No More, up there with Mysterio. Easily Capaldi's best performance in the show so far. Nardole is also a brilliant companion. I'd even say he's better than Pearl Mackie's Bill.

Story was ok and unlike other stories this series didn't feel like it could have done with an extra 5-10mins. Nardole was great though slightly puzzled why he needed a spacesuit. 5/10.
Looking forward to vault mystery been revealed next week.

Well, that was rather good wasn't it? And a strong series gets stronger. I get the feeling this is truly Moffat unplugged and not having to worry about any future story arcs. So far this is all bets are off storytelling. I wonder if this is Moffat finally using the idea he had for series 5 when he thought he might have David Tennant for a series....a series long regeneration. It strikes me that Moffat has introduced two things so far the series has never seen before. 1) a valet for The Doctor and 2) a physically handicapped Doctor. I'm a big fan of the past two series with Capaldi but so far this is blowing the doors off of the previous two seasons.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Best episode of the series so far. Ending didn't feel rushed, stakes were unbelievably high and that cliffhanger...!
Marvell-ous.

This series has been great at putting the central Doctor-Companion relationship(s) at the centre of the drama in a very organic fashion and that was my favourite thing going on here, the way that The Doc looked out for Bill above all else. While I see what people are saying about the crew being expendable redshirts, that's the point of them, surely? They're the proletariat, the forgotten and the disposable for the corporations and the story alike. There was so much going on with the leads I'm not sure where developing the crew would be possible, or necessary. I keep reading this "Needed 5 or 10 more minutes" stuff every week....where is that to come from? If every ep had an extra 5 we'd lose a whole episode of the series! I know I'd rather it this way, cutting extraneous exposition and thrusting us straight into the story. This was a sci-fi space adventure only on the surface but it was a character piece underneath for all 3 leads. The ending was both a lovely cliffhanger and also a great shlocky bit of b-movie revelation, something I very much approve of. Oh, and what geek won't get chills with a Doctor Who ep being so bold as to start with "Space....the Final Frontier"? A really, really strong run of episodes this year. Given the cliffhanger I didn't check out the next time trailer - and I appreciated them not showing it in the usual place - so I've NO idea where this is going. Exciting times.

And I see that viewpoint, but the strength of past Matheson outings was that even the meatbags had something going on. For example, we know more about the naggy old lady from the opening of Mummy than really anyone in Oxygen, and they both serve the same basic purpose. Plus, I felt it hurt a lot of the action where people die and yet, I'm not remotely affected by it, weakening the danger that I felt the TARDIS crew were in.

Well, that was a pretty decent episode... I mean, it's probably not going to be my favourite episode of the year, but it was a pretty decent episode...

To be fair though, we'd had Clara for quite a long time by then - we're still having to spend a lot more time on defining the triad of characters and their relationships, something Mathieson's earlier stories didn't have to. This was, to all intents and purposes the first time these three actually set out adventuring together so I'd rather they were developed at the expense of the guest cast. What would you cut from the ep as written and shot to give the Forge crew more time? It's very easy to say what you'd add...but what to take away? To use Mummy as a comparison, I thought this story put the TARDIS regulars in a lot more peril. There were sacrifices, no easy fixes and when The Doctor does figure things out....it didn't help him much. It completely sold me on the idea that he wasn't sure this was working out well in the end. In Mummy, I'd say a gimmick like the clock on screen took me out of the tension more than anything here - and I liked Mummy a lot overall. Even Frank Skinner's character not seeming to be remotely frightened was more tension-killing than anything here.
