As we've come to expect, some pretty incredible acting from Peter Capaldi and a stupendous ending. What a cliffhanger! Sorry to say though, the lead up was very intense, very dramatic, big-budget and slightly soulless. Lots of high-energy faffing around. I liked the characters from the lab especially because they were relatable, likeable and had character. The others, not so much. As a whole, it was good, but it wasn't brilliant, right up to the end of 'Oxygen' I felt this series had been superlative.

Bit of a slow first half, but things picked up at 23:59. And the final choice was very well staged. That said, this would have made a great regeneration scenario. Finally biting the bullet to get back his eyes. Right now I'm assuming the energy released would have set off the explosion early, making a Regeneration in vain.

This is very definitely a middle episode. It's fine but it's not amazing.

It didn't stop the TV Movie being released uncut. What was cut from the TV movie for sensitivity? In initial broadcastast some of the gunfight was cut out due to a then recent gun massacre in America.

That was well done all in all. The scenario was clearly thought through, the Doctor's blindness was used well. All in all, pretty good stuff.
One query though; how did the UN know Bill was associated with the Doctor?

I was only half watching much of that episode, quite well made but very sluggish pacing and overly talky i.m.o, not without its good points and the last 15 minutes were great but this was very much a middle chapter in this trilogy, not necessarily a let down after Extremis but not quite what I was expecting...
Next week's looks rather good though.

I think I may need a second watch of that tomorrow morning but from what I saw, I really liked it. Peter on fine form as ever.

So, is 12 regenerating in an alternate reality or is he holding it back? Or something else?

What was cut from the TV movie for sensitivity? In initial broadcastast some of the gunfight was cut out due to a then recent gun massacre in America. No, it was the Dunblane School shootings that caused the cut as 8 weeks later it was still very much in the minds of the British public as during the following months many news reports still reported crime analysis bulletins on how and why did it happen, plus after the event there was a massive gun-control push going on too, so guns and ownership was an extremely sensitive subject at the time of transmission.

So it was, my mistake.

After four tries and it's official: Harness simply isn't suited for large scale stories. The interplay between our regulars and the emotion underpinning that is where the episode really shines, and allows the ending to be so effective. However, like Zygon, there's lot of posturing and the human cast, by and large, are just there to espouse quick contradictons for the sake of the drama.

It was probably my favourite episode of the series so far. Very tense, hugely engaging and a wonderfully unique plot. A hell of a lot better than last weeks'.

Well, I'm starting to like Capaldi's Doctor... He had me convinced from 'look at my intense eyebrow stare' in DOTD, though I'd say the run from Husbands Of River Song onwards has nailed his Doctor's character down in a way they didn't quite manage in Series 8-9 which felt, and still do like a (deliberate) origin story for the 12th Doctor gradually mellowing him out from the pragmatic haunted man in Deep Breath and figuring out which directions to push and write his Doctor in , not laying the blame at Clara (who I liked rather more than many it seems) but it's shame they took so long to find the right balance and allow the 12th Doctor to step back and have some random fun, thankfully there's an gap of unspecified time and length between Hell Bent and Husbands a certain audio drama production company might have fun exploring in future years...

A lot to like about this episode and quite a bit of that came from unexpected places such as the relationship & everyday work life of the lab techs. What a great way to end the world. Every peek we get of Nardole being more than capable just makes me love the character more. Bill Potts is quickly shooting up my list of all time favorite companions and Capaldi is, well, Capaldi. I didn't have any issues with pace. I think there is a lot to be said for slowing things down in order to build something. In fact I would call that the defining aspect of series 10. This is the series where the storytelling is relaxed and very confident.

It was ok, but only just.... why all this nonsense about the doctor being president again, capaldis is dropping again in my estimation, piss poor acting when he was talking to bill over the intercom...in fact the lab stuff was not great at all. The nardole getting sick, felt like a big chunk was cut
The plus side I really like Bill more and more, surprisingly she is turn out to be my favourite companion of the new series The monks were suitably creepy but worked much better than last week, I wonder if we will get a big reveal as to who they are or is it just going to be another silence and be a damp squib.
But watching it I got the feeling I had seen it all before, last seasons zygon episode did this world in peril stuff much better.
Not great but certainly better than last weeks, not sure next weeks looks any better....I think I am going to be glad to see the back of this story.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

This episode has made me realise just how much I've missed longer stories: it didn't feel rushed - beyond the pacing - and we got a real chance to get to know the characters which made the demise of most of them a little more heart-rending. It was a solid episode that recapped last week for those that might have missed it and built up a brilliant cliffhanger for next week. I particularly loved how Bill brought about the conclusion because the Doctor couldn't see the numbers. Although for a moment I thought Nardole and the Doctor were going to bring about the end of the world because they were going to leave the lab with contaminated material.
Again, a decent episode. No duds this season... yet.

Where some nice moments with the scientists and a few scary moments with the monks. Plus the ending wasn't bad. But found my mind wandering to stuff like what going to have for breakfast and kept checking to see how long was left. 3/10.
