Wonder if any of the characters would be alternate UNIT soldiers

Expect some pretty terrible overnight numbers for this epsiode now that ITV have moved the final of BGT from Sunday to Saturday to avoid clashing with the Machester Tribute Concert. Hopefully there'll be some big Timeshift numbers to balance it out.

Was this Arc worth 3 Episodes ?
Great from the leads as always
The Missy idea is really badly portrayed "she knew something obvious that the Doctor wasn't willing to voice" not the Doctor lets her out help and she's tempted to make matters worse but doesn't.
The standard retract the deal restore the status quo but ensure the benefit of it (the Doctor's eyesight)

Was this Arc worth 3 Episodes ? Regards mark687 not in my book! what a dreadful ending! I was with this ep till they went to the "brainwave transmitter", but why all the bill's mum guff, just blow the bloody thing up. bill and nardole were great, then the doctor shows up with is big eyes and scary teeth acting again! and the regen stuff was so cringey. it's not right to wish Doctor Who, didn't have the doctor in it. and what they doing to missy, now she/he is not my favourite thing in new who but those scenes were just awful......crying for heavens sake. after the first 4 eps of this series being so good, these three were back to the rubbish we have had to endure last year! it almost made me wish I had watched BGT Final instead. up side next week looks exciting

Unsatisfying.
We still know precisely nothing about the Monks, and after building them up for 2 whole episodes they did nothing of note.
Why didn't the transmitter kill Bill? How does her remembering her mum stop it from frying her brain? Also Bill's memory of mum is itself fake, so how does a fake memory manage to release the world from all the Monks' ones?
The cop-out with the whole 'fake out' betrayal. Seriously? That was the boldest thing all series and then they threw it away? How did the Doctor even fake the regeneration? Why would he bother faking a regeneration when Bill is completely unaware of regeneration?
The episode wasn't all bad, but these things just made it really unsatisfying for me. That said I enjoyed the Missy scenes, and that final scene looks to be hinting at interesting stuff. Plus the trailer for next week looks pretty good.

What was the point of having a three-parter... That was cr*p! Missy has become even less like the Master. The Monks plan was never explained. THat bit with the Doctor regenerating was a bl**dy joke! The reconditioning was never explained. How the Monks got hold of the Doctor was never explained. It just expected us to accept things. Also, what the hell was that Monk in the giant control room? After, two frankly brilliant episodes... that was an utter letdown. And I even got the impression that the whole plotlines of the previous two were building up to something really epic... At least, Empress Of Mars looks interesting and original - something this episode wasn't.

For the most part this was a good episode, but the ending felt rushed and was frankly unsatisfying as it was a standard, predictable resolution that made it seem as though there are no consequences or remembered fallout to Bill's rash actions.
I will say that I thought Bill reading the Doctor the riot act early in the episode was by far the best the character has looked all series.

Bill created the false reality so the machine is set to her brain.
The Doctor went back in time when he met Bill so the photos and some memories of her Mum are real.
The fake out Regen we all knew was coming.
This may've been a decent 2 Parts but in the end it had a point less prologue and a predictable middle and end.

Well, that was a damp squib. Not quite Kill the Moon or Warriors of the Deep, but damn close. It'll be really sad if this is Whithouse's last script for the programme, as I know he can do a lot better. Now for the WHOCAP review: thirdactfilm.com/whocap-review-the-lie-the-land-s10-ep8/

Eh... that was a bit of a lame ending.
Shame because despite some minor gripes, I was largely enjoying this trilogy. I at least appreciate them trying something a bit different with the episode structure; having a three-parter in the middle of a series. Nice to mix things up a bit.

Was this Arc worth 3 Episodes ? not in my book! what a dreadful ending! Not only was the ending bad, most of the rest of the episode was too! I thought this episode was terrible, just plain dull and predictable. Based on this episode that story arc certainly wasn't worth three episodes. The whole thing could have been fitted in to two episodes and nothing interesting would have been lost.

Also, not sure how anyone else felt about the ending with Missy.
On the one hand, I really like Michelle's performance here: it was very tender, vulnerable and I did tear up a little. On the other, I really question the logic of the Doctor's cold turkey plan, and if this is just a big ruse.

The best (and only) good thing about this episode was Pearl Mackie. She is brilliant, Bill is brilliant. The rest, meh! The Monks were all powerful when they restored the Doctor's eyes, now they're fallible and rubbish?
I would have preferred it if it had still been a simulation - that I could accept.
Such a shame after a great start to the season.
Cheers

Awful, awful, awful. Basically a full quarter of the series wasted on this pointless storyline. Thankfully just 5 more episodes and Moffat's finally gone.

Far be it from me to be a dissenting voice but I loved just about every minute of it. The Doctor's Equilibrium-like broadcasts, Pearl's entire performance, Matt Lucas' delivery, the Monks being genuinelly creepy and Michelle Gomez bringing some warmth (!) to The Master. Just adored it. Sure...shades of many other eps especially The Wedding Of River Song but I couldn't care less. I had a really great time with it. REALLY great.
