Looks like a new companion, and it's a guy! Maybe Grant Markham? Also it’s release 238 not 328.

"space pilot Mathew Sharpe" Maybe a descendant of the heroic Sergeant (ultimately promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel) of that surname? Space adventuring would have been right up his street! I like the idea of a new space pilot companion (after Steven) and the Sixth Doctor + a male companion could be - interesting... Thinking back to his TV stories and some BF, old Sixie's sometimes forceful personality often seems even more forceful when he's dealing with another bloke! (Thinking of 'Quicksilver' for example. He's all sympathy towards Constance (and later, Flip) but (ahem) slightly less sympathetic towards Kinvar when he turns up at the TARDIS door looking for help. ) A Sixth Doctor trilogy is an event I look forward to (my favourite audio Doctor) and I'm pleased they are trying a new angle and that we don't have to wait until the end of the year. And of course, still hoping that we will hear much more from Constance and Flip in the future too. And some more older Peri stories would be also very welcome and basically I'd just like more Sixie...

I doubt this is a new regular companion - they already have the Constance/Flip and Older Peri strands running, they surely wouldn't start up a *third*. And we'd surely have heard about a new companion before now?

I've been wanting a male companion with Six for a LONG time so bring on Matthew and may we get a long, interesting arc with him. It sounds like an extremely interesting and well done story as well.

The fact that he appears to already be travelling with Six at the beginning of this story makes me think that he’s not going to be a regular and this is more of a Brooke/Rachel/Jemima type situation. That said, it’s odd that there’s no indication of any other companions being involved in this. It could be that this trilogy isn’t actually a trilogy.

And we'd surely have heard about a new companion before now? It seems off, yeah. We were wondering if this was going to be a Constance trilogy or a Peri trilogy and here comes the third option. Weird.

Could also be part of the UNIT/ Monthly Range stories running through the year. Or maybe not. Either way, male companions are rarities, so bask in it. It is also probably worth mentioning that we are starting to see the Main Range where each Doctor has a separate producer, so what we came to expect from previous years may no longer apply

I doubt this is a new regular companion - they already have the Constance/Flip and Older Peri strands running, they surely wouldn't start up a *third*. And we'd surely have heard about a new companion before now? This is of course the second month in a row that a MR Doctor has gained a new, male companion and I hadn't heard about Daniel Hopkins either before that announcement. Great ideas imo - and although this announcement seems unusual, it's really tried-and-tested ground. Sixie has had multiple audio companions successfully appearing in parallel strands before now, some long-running and some just for a short time so one more would seem 'business as usual' for him. I also like the idea of a new companion from the future. Is that a first for BF? And having Mathew Sharpe already travelling with the Doctor when the story begins means his back-story is there to be explored. We heard that BF wanted to shake up the MR a bit as it becomes the MAs and this looks like part of it. Exciting times for fans (and that extended MR sub of mine looks ever better value! )

Constance’s first appearance was in The Last Adventure box set and not in the Main Range. So yeah, could be.

I don't want a new companion I want more Flip & Constance I agree to be honest. I mean, I was expecting them to reveal it to be a Peri trilogy, which I would be upset about at first because of no Flip and Constance, but then get hyped at the idea of continuing Peri’s story. I think what irks at me a bit is that Six has two strains running but it seems they’ve decided to follow neither this year, while Five could literally go in any new direction because he’s got no ongoing strain, and Seven just has Ace and Mel. Im sure I’ll love the trilogy regardless of which companions are in it, it’s just a bit annoying that with only three or four stories a year, we’re getting yet another character strain.

I have lost track of all of his companions

I don't want a new companion I want more Flip & Constance I'm sure they'll be back soon enough! (Although I know nothing - apart from about Iron Bright, which F&C are not in)

Nice. Derelict in space with biomechanoid baddies. Sounds intriguing and it's always great to see a new companion from BF. Sixie's getting quite the variety at the moment: a latter day Peri, adventures with Flip and Constance, and now Matthew Sharpe. Looks as though Klein is coming back in one form or another for Seven, so fingers crossed that Five follows suit with a potential new companion in The Helliax Rift. Either way, we're in for a nice shake-up. (Incidentally and I was hesitant about them at first, but I hope that the post- Trial Peri stories don't end up in their own oubliette like Raine ultimately did. There's a tonne to explore with the character there in that particular period of his life, it'd be a shame to see it just fade into obscurity.)

I seem to remember hearing/reading the complete opposite somewhere (honestly can't remember where though). I thought they were always going to release The Last Adventure first as a semi-callback to Mel's out-of-order first appearance in The Trial of a Time Lord, Sixie's previous 'final adventure'?
