Which has what to do with the shooting and editing of S11? What does Chibnall have to do with the manufacture of blu ray disks? Does the British public know, much less care, that a blu-ray release of an old TV show is being delayed? In what way does this bear on S11's marketing, the 'New Dawn' initiative or the five year plan?
Exactly. I have also preordered Albert Brooks' Modern Romance, which was initially due for a June 18th release and that was pushed back a week. Along with the Tom Baker box set, is that delay also wrapped up with the launch of series 11? It is like your search to always have something negative to say or imply about modern Who really is hitting the bottom of the barrel and grasping at imaginary straws. I'm so excited about Modern Romance. More Brooks on blu would be great. I'd sell a kidney for Real Life but it's with Paramount so Indicator won't get that. I've been chatting online with John who runs Indicator quite a bit recently over email and some of the stuff he's got planned....man.

To answer the question in the thread...I've never needed or wanted any gender or race - I have actors I want. I've said many times Capaldi was who I wanted since 2005 but I didn't want him because he was a man,or white...but because I've loved him and his work since I was a kid watching Local Hero knowing he was a West End of Glasgow boy like me. I know Chibnall is casting the best person for what he sees as "his" Doctor Who. That's all I've ever really wanted. Best person for the job.

Because I have a voice. You may not like what I say, but you don't always have to respond to it. You're the voice, try and understand it Make a noise and make it clear Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo We're not gonna sit in silence We're not gonna live with fear Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo

Great song from a really string album.

I think a female Doctor is sort of necessary in order to force a re-evaluation of what Doctor and companion dynamics have been for the best part of the last decade. By that, I mean the Doctor should no longer be presented as a type of action hero with a female companion for him to save and then snog at the end, because that’s quite damaging to how kids see women and sexuality once they reach puberty. You can’t have kids look up to this smart guy who is also an action hero who also gets to make out with his platonic friends every once in a while (mostly nonconsensually).
That being said, I’m not against love stories with companions or the Doctor being an action hero, but if you’re gonna do either then do it with a bit more sensitivity so that it doesn’t impact on kids’ views negatively. A female Doctor is probably quite handy in light of this because it means the production team can’t go down the male power fantasy route anymore.
I don’t really know what I’m on about anymore or if I’ve explained it very well, but I’ve written all this now so it’s getting posted regardless.

To be fair, we didn't have that with Capaldi (largely due to Capaldi rather than Moffat, I suspect) and I always felt it was more a deconstruction of how terrible that idea was with Smith and Amy. (Although the show seemed to bizarrely regress with that half-series with Clara where the Doctor's making creepy comments about her tight skirt and non-consensually kissing his married Lesbian friend.) Overall I definitely agree with you, though, and this a big part of RTD's set-up that needs to be exorcised from the show. If it had been up to me, I would have wanted to see a female Doctor much earlier in the show's history (80's, probably), which would have normalized it as a thing Time Lords can do and given us a more equal ratio of male/female Doctors. And it would have meant that this was a settled argument and I wouldn't have to see misogynists commenting about how the show is ruined forever on every single thing the Doctor Who Facebook page posts.

John Farnham, dude, John Farnham. Can’t say I have any clue who that is. He's the one who had an international hit with the song. I had no idea who Rebecca St James is but having looked her up I can't think of many posters less likely to reference 90s Christian teenage pop music covers than JohnHurtDoctor.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

John Farnham, dude, John Farnham. Can’t say I have any clue who that is. John Farnham is an Australian singer who rose to fame in the late 60s with a novelty song called "Sadie The Cleaning Lady" and had a successful career doing bland pop songs and some TV work. Then he released "You're The Voice" in 1986 and became an Australian hero. He's a very "shouty" singer, IMNSHO, but lots of people here in Oz love him.

As a UK poster, he'd know the Farnham version from a million radio plays, adverts, tv shows etc. Maybe we're wrong and Johnny boy loves his Aussie christian pop acts. He's nothing if not unpredictable! We're going to get a telling off for going off-piste though so....ummm....Rebecca St James for the 14th Doctor!

Great song from a really string album. It wasn't a Rebecca St. James reference as I have no idea who she is. I guess she did an inferior cover of the song? The song was originally performed by John Farnham. Edited: Just seen the other responses. Christian Rock have only 1 great exponent. That is Stryper. Fools like Rebecca St. James need to get lost! & stop stealing other people's songs! Remember the 8th commandment Rebecca! (if you ever read this thread).

Man I sleep & go to work and return to find this thread going in a completely different direction. *EDIT* And I must say a much more entertaining, if still off topic, direction than that no confidence bs because of the Tom Baker blu-ray got moved back a few weeks.

Just a point I'd like to address that I've seen thrown around: the idea that Jodie and Chibs have been 'disrespectful' to fandom and handled things 'badly'.
1) Jodie and Chris have been nothing short of calm, measured and concious. Please point me to an interview where Jodie or Chris call anyone 'misogynists', 'sexist manbabies', 'alt-right' or any variant thereof. Go on, I'll wait.
2) Jodie, Bradders and the cast have been nothing but accomadating of fans of both genders, young and old, regularly stopping for photos and autographs during production. Please point me to when someone ever said 'go away, white male'.
3) Chris hasn't engaged with the online discourse and hasn't once drawn politics, left or right, into the mix. He's been focusing on making the show and keeping a tight lid. He hasn't even dropped 'Feminism' in once. I'm sorry, since when do we get mad at showrunners ACTUALLY DOING THEIR JOB?

Also, it seems Jodie doesn't clean up half bad in a suit.
