He doesn't just say he knows what's going on......what he says is "You don't understand, Clara. I can remember it all, every time." If that is true, he must be insane. No wonder he's doing what looks like weird stuff in the next episode. Well, I suppose it was an excuse to watch it again.... The relevant scene: He analyzes the wall. Remembers seeing "bird" in the teleporter room. He says "bird," and goes wild-eyed as the background recedes a bit. (which I took to convey a the sort of sickening lurch you might feel when you realize something terrible). He runs into his memory palace, screams "That's when I remember!", continues, "Always then. Always then." "It was exactly there! I can't keep doing this, Clara. I can't! Why is it always me? Why is it never anybody else's turn?" Scribbling: How are you going to WIN? "Can't I just lose? Just this once. Easy. It would be easy. It will be so easy. Just tell them. Just tell, whoever wants to know all about the Hybrid." Cut to shot of him collapsed against the diamond wall, looking defeated. Notices Veil. "I can't keep doing this! I can't! I can't always do this! It's not fair! Clara, it's just not fair. Why can't I just lose?" Scribbling: NO! "But I can remember, Clara. You don't understand. I can remember it all. Every time. And you'll still be gone. Whatever I do, you still won't be there." Clara: Doctor, you are no the the only person who ever lost someone. It's the story of everybody. Get over it. Beat it. Break free. Doctor, it's time. Get up, off your arse, and win." Wakes up. "Hello again. No more confessions, sorry. But I will tell you the truth." Makes a resolved look. Starts punching away at the diamond. "The hybrid is a very dangerous secret. A very, very dangerous secret. And it needs to be kept locked! So I'm telling you nothing. Nothing at all. Instead, I'm going to do something far worse. I'm going to get out of here. And find whoever put me here in the first place. And whatever they're trying to do, I'm going to stop it, Clara! It might take a little while. Since you want me to tell your a story. The Brothers Grimm, lovely fellows. They're on my darts team. According to them, there's this emperor, and he asks the shepard's boy "how many seconds in eternity?"" /Killed by veil /Montage So, I think its certain that he's saying that at the moment he remembers seeing "bird" in the sand, he somehow remembers every pass through the loop, hence his desperation and desire to give up for once. But he talks himself into continuing. This ends up happening however many times it can over 2 billion+ years.

Someone wrote on Tardis Wikia Theory:Doctor Who television discontinuity and plot holes/Heaven Sent asking if the Doctor dies every time he jumps into the water. If he died at least once, then how can he make another copy of himself?

Who is in possession of the Confessional dial at the moment the Doctor is teleported into the Confessional dial? I'm guessing ME, who then transports it to Galifrey.

Who is in possession of the Confessional dial at the moment the Doctor is teleported into the Confessional dial? Yup, that makes no sense at all and just gets left hanging there, along with Why did they just dump it in the wastelands of Gallifrey

I still think there was stuff Moffat intended to do in Hell Bent thinking it was his last episode, then took it out when he realised it wasn't. Here's hoping series 10 gives us some payoff for everything Heaven Sent set up.

Why not just let series 10 start with a clean slate, irrelevant to who the Producer was.

Why not just let series 10 start with a clean slate, irrelevant to who the Producer was. Mainly just a desperate hope that he'd actually thought it out more thoroughly than what we saw. Although I can absolutely see him having certain things he would only want to do in his finale.

Who is in possession of the Confessional dial at the moment the Doctor is teleported into the Confessional dial? Me made the Doctor give it to her. Everything she did in Face the Raven was because the Time Lords needed her to get the Doctor's confession dial, teleport the Doctor into the dial, and send it to Gallifrey.

Not trying to be argumentative, I genuinely lost the plot.

Although that turned out to be wrong anyway

It wasn't clear that the Time Lords were responsible until the end of Heaven Sent, but Me explained that she was being forced by someone else.

Did we see ME with the confessional dial? Did she say she was in possession of the confessional dial?

She did get it from the Doctor in Face the Raven, yes, even though Missy had it on Skaro last time we saw it. Everything after that is pretty speculative, just a couple of vague lines in the finale to sort of hand-wave over it.

Davros had it for a little while, but the Doctor took it back from Davros.
