Could this faction of Daleks not be arsed responding to the Sontarans offer then?
I do like that we’ve essentially had a trilogy told utilising the New Years Day specials, assuming this relates in some way. I’ve suggested previously that they should use the festive specials as a miniseries of its own, with a companion exclusive to them and told throughout the tenure of that particular Doctor. Capitalise on a bigger audience that doesn’t necessarily watch the main series.

That’s much better than what was shown at the end of The Vanquishers (and I didn’t dislike what we got!). Great concept and hope that’s shown on BBC One frequently between now and New Year’s Day. I’m guessing that the TARDIS and the events of Flux is causing the issues, both the Flux itself and perhaps the contents of the watch.

So based on the time loopy trailer I'm guessing that Aisling Bea and Pauline McGlynn will actually be playing the same character at different ages.

Given the restrictions, doing Dalek-Happy Death Day is actually pretty smart.

"Eve of the Daleks", eh? What odds Chibnall was offered a different slot in the schedule, only for his episode to get postponed to New Year's Day?

It's possible but in all fairness the last couple of years have had Doctor Who New Year's Day 'specials' (and both were also Dalek stories) so the Eve might not be about Christmas Eve...

New Year's Eve is more likely to be the reference, in which case they're only out by a day. And the last day of the year feels like a very appropriate setting for a time loop story...

I actually meant New Year's Eve - as Auld Lang Syne is the song being sung in the trailer - but I've just been wrapping Christmas presents for my Grandchildren so got carried away with the Christmas theme!!!

I'm guessing they must have spent too much money on Flux, as their first "Special" does seem to be a money-saving bottle episode set in one location with two guest stars.

Might not necessarily be a bad thing - some of the best episodes have been the ones where they've had to accommodate for various reasons (like the Doctor/Companion lite stories). Also it'll be nice to have a more intimate story compared with the galaxy/universe-spanning story that was Flux.

Or given how big & blockbuster like Flux was they wanted the special to be more low key as contrast.

Just as well that the rumour that Chris Noth was in this episode doesn't seem to have been correct...

I suppose the question is are the cracks something just purely related to the Groundhog Day nature of this episode or something that will carry through the next two episodes as well.
