I don’t really know if it getting forgotten matters that much. Most every Who boxed set and in fact most TV stories “get forgotten” a few months after release. The issue is whether or not they entertain you while listening/watching - not whether or not they have long term cultural impact.

But if something is attempting to be a cross platform event it shouldn't be forgotten.

But if something is attempting to be a cross platform event it shouldn't be forgotten. I think unless it offers up a brand new character or a huge piece of lore, almost every piece of Who is soon “forgotten” (meaning not referenced in any meaningful way in anything other than a direct sequel). Even the monumental stories like Day of the Doctor really only reverberate because of the introduction of the War Doctor. Beyond that, is it ever really mentioned or brought up? The stories create an illusion of epic change but rarely actually bring meaningful change. Which is fine because entertaining their audience is the intention. To some extent, I think Brian the Ood is back from TLV (funnily enough - for Doomsday), so that’s perhaps evidence TLV isn’t forgotten? Personally I’d have brought back the Daleks with personalities too, as I feel they’re a good addition. But all the plot stuff was just a way to get the Doctors together and was as weighty and relevant as the Three Doctors (meaning not terribly weighty).

I think Big Finish is having a real problem with seeming to just throw random characters together. Jackie, the Silence, the Syndicate, 8, and Charle. I think at least epsiode per set should be entirely original characters. They seem to be doing far too many X meets Y stories in my view. Very much so. Why is Jackie even a thing in BF? I was thinking that too, this month alone she's appearing alongside the Krotons, River Song, Harry Sullivan, The Sixth Doctor, and Lady Christina. What's next, a boxset on Jackie's adventures in the Time War?

These big event stories are usually memorable. I was assuming you were talking “forgotten” by the canon of Who not individual fans. I actually haven’t forgotten TLV (at least the audios portion of it), as I enjoyed the 4th Doctor and 8th ones a lot. Only one I thought wasn’t very good was the 8/11 story. The novel I read was fine but seemed to not really make much use of the Dark History era. But I never thought Steve Cole was the one to write something that would really mine that material. Not to say I think you’re wrong for finding it forgettable. Everyone is going to find different Who more or less resonant than others.

It’s maybe a small thing, but the photoshop job on Charley is abysmal. Her head looks barely attached to her body.
Yeah, it’s a shame there’s an Eight and Charley story in here as I don’t like to miss those, but I’m not bothering with this.

The "buy now" link on the BBC page to the final hour is a dead page. Anyone have information from elsewhere as to just what the final hour is and how much?
I am going to pass on the Big Finish series until I hear more or someone comes in saying the Big Finish stories were spectacular.

Its apparently supposed to be Free but weather its a Text Short Story like Hour 1 or a YouTube Vid like the initial Promo was no one's sure. Regards mark687

I believe it was announced in DWM’s breakdown of the project as being a short story, like hour one.

Shipping of DWM to the US is so far behind that I only just this month received #591, the issue before the one with the Doom's Day story in it. So, if I get the Big Finish set then I guess I'll be able to experience the first few hours, as I already bought the two comics, and the last few hours. So, maybe it will be worth it. I'll have to think about it.

Why is it, that when you have one specific release your waiting for, that all the random stuff you don't care about comes out first?
I've seen War Room 2 pushed back twice and really couldn't care less about Dooms Day.
