Given we aren't sure if Gomez will exit with Moffat, I'd actually like to see a simultaneous Doctor-Master regeneration story. Have Capaldi and Gomez go out at the same time, and then the first Chibnail episode could be a little game with the audience over who is who. Would be more interesting if Gomez wasn't actually the Master the whole time and was a decoy for the real Master, who has been plotting a great plan the whole time.

Beg to differ, and I doubt I'm alone in this. It would a colossal cop-out and feel like a waste of time, not to mention making very little sense from a storytelling point of view.

The reason I'd rate it as a good idea, since she just isn't the Master and has nothing in her that links to any previous incarnations and plays it in a way which many people don't like, including myself. I'd even personally say that the whole Missy business put some of the public off of Doctor Who. Look, there is a reason that ratings dipped quickly after Capaldi joined. Partially because of Capaldi, partially because of the stories.

I just can't see it. Surely the Valeyard has to be created when the Doctor believes he is regenerating out of his twelfth body. At that time he believes that to be his last ever regeneration. He doesn't know at that time that he's going to get a new regeneration cycle, Gallifrey is gone so he doesn't believe it's possible. What happens later just isn't relevant. We really don't know enough about the Valeyard's origins to know if he had to come during what the Doctor believes to be his final regeneration. Besides, maybe the Master only knew that the Valeyard was born during the Doctor's final regeneration, and just assumed that that was between the twelfth and final incarnations. That way, we can assume that at some distant point in the future, the Doctor will run out of regenerations again, and that will be when the Valeyard is born. There's this lovely idea from Rassilon, Omega and that Other Guy that when the Doctor's penultimate corporeal incarnation regenerated, he was split in twain by the genetic tampering of his previous life attempting to further his own future, creating a Jungian shadow aspect. Everything that the Doctor denied made manifest in the entity that would later adopt the name Valeyard. With the benefit of hindsight, I do like the vagueness of "somewhere between your twelfth and final incarnation" because it means that from Capaldi onwards, there's the fear that the Valeyard will claw his way out of the woodwork and make manifest. It could be just before he dies or it could be tomorrow, there's no certainty there. I'm even tempted to believe that at one point he'll forget how many lives he's been through and be genuinely frightened that next time... Next time could be the very last. No certainty of reprisal. I still hold fast to the idea that it's another Tremas situation. After all, Simm's incarnation was burning himself up last we saw him, it's not unreasonable to assume that he found a thrall, hypnotised her and used her like Goth to sustain his own lifeforce.

Missy is easily my second favourite Master after Delgrado, I have no issues with the Master changing gender as it is a pretty thin generic character to work with anyway, Gomez has just the right balance of bonkers and brain to act as a great foil for Capaldi's Doctor and I hope she's around for many years to come.

For anyone who cares, possible spoilers for Series 10 were posted on Gallifreybase (obviously some of this may be completely false): {Rumoured Series 10 SPOILERS} 2016 Christmas Special: The Doctor grants a boy his wish to become a Superhero i.e the Superhero might be a figment of the boy's imagination or a dream come to life, Matt Lucas's Nardole from the 2015 Xmas special returns, and will play a recurring role in Series 10, Moffat has described Nardole as occasionally sinister, and supposedly he acts as a sort of butler to the Doctor.
A Star In Her Eye is the title of the first episode, Bill is studying at university. The Doctor is working undercover in some sort of capacity as a University lecturer, he is guarding a secret in the basement. It could be linked to the season finale and there is speculation it could be the next incarnation of the Doctor or Missy.
The second episode is apparently really aimed at children and involves evil emoticons on mobile phones and evil robots.
There is another episode set Victorian, or Regency period London episode - the Thames freezes over and the Doctor and Bill go ice skating on it, there is a monster underneath the Thames and there is rumoured to be an underwater set piece with Bill and The Doctor donning old fashioned diving suits to investigate.
One episode involves puddles on the streets that are actually alien entities attacking people.
There is rumoured to be a Haunted House esque story, with David Suchet as a sinister landlord, possibly a timelord villain.
There are rumours of an new story set on Peladon featuring the Ice Warriors and doing a rif on Brexit politics.
There is apparently a Genesis of the Cybermen story - it is not the finale and comes mid series, Moffat has confirmed a classic series writer is writing a story for Series 10, so can we assume this is Marc Platt adapting his Big Finish 5th Doctor audioplay 'Spare Parts'?
The series finale is apparently spectacular but no other info at the moment, Moffat is writing the last three episodes of S10, so it might be a 3-parter.
From the same source as above:
After last series ratings which were considered disappointing, the BBC are concerned and the tone of the upcoming series is pitched more to children rather than the dark feel of the last series.
From a different source, a GB member has claimed to have seen filming documents for episode 1:
- The "Gate Chamber" set includes a practical spiral stairway (a set which was dark and confined) and a high platform.
- One scene features the Doctor demonstrating a fencing technique.
- A shallow water tank was used to achieve an effect of water seeping under a door.
- There was a tanked area on set to shoot a water burst effect separately.
- Filming included a quarry location for a "desolate plain" with water effects and also a dry silicon prop pool.
- One set featured a cast iron fireplace.
- Other scenery requirements included a heavy window.
- Food and drink was consumed by artists as part of the action.
Missy is definitely back for at least one episode, and Gomez starts work soon.
Mark Gatiss said in a radio interview he has finished his script for S10 and thinks it will be filmed at the beginning of next year, Moffat has previously commented on wanting a sequel to 'Sleep No More' he also mentioned wanting to do an 'Ancient World' episode for S10, whatever that means.

Christmas Special sounds marginally more interesting now, as does Nardole, but still not pleased. The opener's basic idea of the basement could work. The second episode sounds like utter s**t and will prove right the people who said Cotteral-Boyce was a bad choice to return. The Regency story (which is Episode 3) sounds okay. The Haunted House episode with Suchet is apparently called The Haunted Hub. I'm okay with a Brexit episode... but I'd want it to not be politically bias, with the Doctor not taking sides, otherwise he'll just become the writer's voicepiece and not the Doctor, as Brexit is a complex thing. If the Doctor were to have an opinion it must be one where he accepts both opinions, honestly, since it's such a major issue. Really happy with the Genesis Of The Cybermen thing. Also, I think the BBC have to change the style of the show at this point, so I'm happy, unless it becomes too childish. I'd also wonder if the last bit you'd shown was Episode 3 not Episode 1 because from what the other source said... Anyway, if you get anymore info from GB I'd be eternally grateful if you posted it here.

Wouldn't be a bad idea at all, since it's a pain to find them this year, but when you do they do explain a lot.
