The theme tune needs a huge rework! All of Golds version are wishy washy, not enough oomph! I didn't mind his first one but they've gone downhill since and the current one is dreadful. In fairness to the guy, it must be tough contantly having to come up with new takes on the same tune. All the more reason for a change. Ooh, that post promoted me to Castellan. Excellent, lead me to the black scrolls!

It's funny that I'm also not a fan of the current theme, but not for a lack of "oomph." I'd like something quieter and creepier, like the Arnold theme.

Now, why is "Castellan" ranked higher than "Doctor"?

Now, why is "Castellan" ranked higher than "Doctor"? Because whoever came up with those silly titles was trying to be clever... and failed.

Now, why is "Castellan" ranked higher than "Doctor"? Because the DU Lords are remote, ancient people in long cloaks and very high collars who don't get out much and disapprove of those who do ?? ( Runs and ducks staser blasts, waits until account is exiled to Earth for all of Time...)

Jokes aside, and knowing that this is completely the wrong place to put this, I think "Doctor" should be the highest forum title.
He killed them all, he saved them all. If I was a Time Lord, I would say that he stands with Rassilon and Omega. He's their best iteration - our best iteration; not a Jesus figure, but a truly heroic figure. An Aragorn figure. A Samwise figure, a Frodo figure. Doing what must be done - hope can go **** itself - because it must be done, because someone must do it, and in fact succeeding for the same reason: it must be done.

You're right, although we did that discussion on a thread in the Community section not so long ago. (And I am still of the view that at a certain point posters should be able to choose their own title, as not everyone wants to be a Time Lord... yes Mods, REALLY!)

I've really loved the Capaldi era, (well if you leave out Moon-Eggs and Magic Forests), but having it coupled with that shrill, annoying theme tune, one that never did "grow" on me... well, it annoys me.
I'm sure we'll get a new theme for the new Doctor(ette), and while I don't think they can get any worse than this, we'll have to see.

It sounded so much better with Peter Capaldi's guitar version they used for Under The Lake/Before The Flood. I don't know why they didn't just adopt that as the theme from then on in.

The Capaldi era theme is my second favorite! But then again, my favorite is the McCulloch theme, so what do I know?

"Doctor(ette)"? Right. Say that to a female GP and see what answer you get.

Still I gave it kudos from the first time I heard it by having the "middle 8" in the opening titles.
Sorry about that doctor(ette) comment, it just kind of slipped out.

I liked the graphics, apart from those 'scrunched up pieces of paper' floating through space. To be fair to the designer, he felt the effect was weak too, but had no time or budget to improve it (I've a feeling he was interviewed on the Time and the Rani DVD).
