Not that I don't think he is wonderful but no Nick Briggs penned scripts is encouraging news. Writers new to the range is also a good sign. More Jago & Litefoot is always welcome.

mark687 - I'm a pick and choose buyer, and my gut instinct picked out those two as the ones to buy!

Had this pre ordered for quite some time but I'm even more excited to see the array of talent involved. Particularly looking forward to hearing the James Goss and Johnathon Morris stories.

I'm very happy with the writers here. I'm especially fond of Andrew Smith's stuff and so welcome his contribution - well, I welcome them all. Marc Platt writing a two parter? Sounds good. Marc has written some of my favourite BFs, but has penned a few I'm not so keen on, so we'll see.

Oh, doing Jago and Litefoot first is a good idea. Also a Romana-centric story arc? I wonder who's after her. Maybe just another Time Lord rival? She's got so many though. Maybe Celia Imrie?

It certainly is good to bring in new writers and give others a break. Hopefully this will bring in new ideas and fresh takes on existing characters. I like the Daleks and Cybermen as much as the next, but at times the plots are so repeated that after five minutes you can zone out and not miss anything.

I get the impression that he doesn't like the JNT era, where this series is set, but I am surprised to see that he isn't even writing a single one. Hopefully the next time that he writes for the 4DA's will be because he has a really clever idea than because he feels that he's the best qualified to write them all (as he said in his Zygon Hunt interview).

I'm surprised they're not having the 4th Doctor meet Strax yet. Probably happen sooner rather than later.

I do wish Matthew Waterhouse would be involved at some point, but between living in the states and not having the best working relationship with Lalla Ward, I suppose it's not too likely.

You know, I hardly visit the BF site any more... I come here instead! So thanks for this... I just preordered. I changed my saved link for Big Finish for the download service to show any titles "released but not yet downloaded" and I'll click on that every few days, and on Fridays I have a link for Toby's podcast list, but beyond that, I don't look at the BF site.

Nicholas mentioned as "a massive Doctor Who fan" that his "preference" without being inhibited by other time commitments is that he would have liked to direct all of the FDAs. Briggs also said that he can "hear the way that Tom's Doctor spoke", and that he has a natural Tom Baker dialogue filter of when the Fourth Doctor was at his best.

Lalla Ward doesn't need to be in Tom and Matthew audios though. And even if they did want to do E Space audios, I think managing to make audios that have both Tom and Lalla in them was a bigger hurdle than managing to make audios that have Lalla and Matthew in them. Matthew being in the States shouldn't be a problem. He comes over here a few times a year and has been known to time the trip to suit DW commitments here. I know for a fact that *as soon as* he heard of Janet Fielding's MotorMouth fundraisers, he said instantly 'just tell me when the companions one is and I'll make sure I'm in the UK for her'.

I'd have to go back and listen, but I thought that the quote was exactly as you say except that he'd like to "write" all the FDA's if he didn't have other time commitments and tied that in with his other comment about having the natural dialog filter for the Fourth Doctor.

I reckon if Nick had his way - and unlimited time - his preference would be that he'd like to write and direct every Big Finish Doctor Who story!
