One thing i did wonder if the 8DA next year might feature Charley Pollard which has been hinted last year in the podcast I wonder if they'll finally get reunited... I know it's supposed to happen in Charlotte Pollard Volume Three but maybe they've decided to skip that one? Charley Pollard Volume 3 seems to be stuck in development hell for a while but from what was rumoured is that 8 and Charley would meet in that boxset but there would be an extra release with them i somehow am not sure if Charley will join 8 for Post Stranded or they are doing an early 8 era releases. either way hopefully they will get more details soon. i guess they wouldnt record 8's segments for Charley Pollard 3 via remote recording as they would think having them both in the studio would bring more emotional. plus we dont know if India even has the set up for Remote Recording.

I'd be sad if the "next big thing after Stranded" turned out to be past adventures set between episodes of an earlier arc, rather than having that open-ended "anything can happen" feeling that the Eighth Doctor stories have had since 2001. But, I do think Charley rejoining the Doctor after all they've both been through (and in the lead up to the Time War) could be something really interesting! I mean, unless she recorded her part in The End of the Beginning long before anyone else, she probably has a way! (And her latest MasterChef credit is April 2021.)

Honestly I’m the opposite I think after 7 years of the same tardis team having earlier adventures set in the classic 8 era is a much welcoming relief, i don’t think that Charley should rejoin 8 in the tardis but perhaps a future doctor instead (10th Doctor might be fun) but a Boxset of an arc between the two would be nice

I suppose I don’t know enough about what they’re doing or the impact they’ve got. Some of them don’t seem to have any experience, so I’m struggling to see what they’re bringing to the table apart from, seemingly, a continued mix of X meets Y. The cynic in me just sees members of the fanbase being invited on board to broaden the appeal of Big Finish. A great experience for them being in on recordings and meeting the cast, I’m sure, but I suppose I just don’t see what’s in it for us as customers. Yeah, nice to see fans get in the door at Big Finish, but not sure what it is they’re doing, or, well, producing.

I suppose I don’t know enough about what they’re doing or the impact they’ve got. I think it's one of those things that means more to some fans than others. Personally, I've never been n particularly interested in who the second assistant cameraman on serial XYZ was. On the other hand, it is importnat for BF to get it out there that Nick Briggs is not some kind of writing octopus who is personally responisble for all BF output, as people on Facebook seem to think.

But yes, there's a crowd that seems to think if he does the writing, directing and producing he gets paid individually for all three.

Dominic Martin seems a good bloke who loves the series and has put a lot of work into many fan projects, so I'm happy for him. It is kinda cool that Big Finish - which has its deepest roots in the fanfiction world - is still occasionally picking up people from that world.
And good to have confirmation that the 1DAs are the Doctor and Dodo, but we all pretty much assumed that! I'm much more curious about the Doctor actors for these ranges...

Again though this is meant to be professional PR strategy so there's method somewhere in multi producers and letting the public know they've got them.

The Eighth Doctor & Charley Pollard together again would be cool to hear, be they 'new' adventures or slotted-in missing adventures. I suppose I'm a bit of an old fogey that way, but a lot of those earlier stories are very nostalgic for me. Revisiting old friends is always a very comfy feeling too. The more people want to go forward, the more I don't mind the occasional looking back.

Please for the love of all that is good, no Charley with any Doctor. I'd rather listen to two hours of nails on a chalkboard.

(Same with Six, actually. Give me some retro adventures now and again, but gosh I want the continuing stories of Flip and Constance and whoever comes next!) And hey, coffeeaddict, tell us what you really think, eh?

The Big Finish notice is going to naturally talk about Big Finish, but a quick Google search and I'm prepping for the premiere of a fan-written story -- written by the chap, in question -- from a series I hadn't discovered yet. (It's right up your street, timegirl , a Twelve/Clara story with a rather interesting concept to hand.)

I think the Eighth Doctor range is desperate for a reset and/or a status quo change. Charley had her time. Lucy had her run. Liv & Helen have had there time. Let’s get someone different and please pull away from these big connected box sets.

The box set numbering in the announcement is interesting - apologies if this point has been made upthread, I haven't read it all
3rd Doc releases are vols 1 & 2 - not 9 & 10 as might have been expected following from 7 & 8 this year. Are we to read anything into this?
4rth Dr releases continue the previous numbering, i.e series 11.
Docs 2, 5, 6, 7 8 all begin with vol 1 which is as expected since they are all starting new things.
The first doc adventures are not vol 6 as might be expected if they were continuing with David Bradley, but nor are they vol 1 as might be expected if there was a new actor playing the first Doc

Every 2022 boxset will probs have some sort of subtitle, like forty volume 1&2 for the fifth doctor or beyond war games volume 1 for the second and then then come 2023 we will have a new set of volume 1&2s for every doctor. I don’t think they have reset the numbers to start counting up again basically, i think they intentionally want to keep it low so as to not scare of new listeners.
