I am quite curious as to how this is going to play out - is this going to be standalone stories set in different points during Seven's life that are somewhat linked (a la The Last Adventure) or is it going to be one long continuous storyline? Vortex goes into it a bit and it seems like there’s multiverse stuff going on and different story threads occurring in different time zones, but it’s all one story.

Is there some significance to the 27th December I'm missing? Usually BF have all their December releases out well before Christmas so I wonder if there's a specific reason this one is an exception

Usually BF have all their December releases out well before Christmas so I wonder if there's a specific reason this one is an exception I’m guessing with the digital first strategy they can be more flexible about when in the month they release, rather than worrying about getting physical copies out before the mad Christmas rush that hits the postal services. I don’t think there’s any particular significance to the 27th, not that I can tell anyway.

There's a "hint" in a official Tweet that there be an unannounced release maybe before Xmas, however Post here in the Uk is due to pause from the 24th-27th Regards mark687

The preview article in Doctor Who Magazine 598 reveals that Sean Carlsen will be featuring as "Co-ordinator in Extremis" Narvin!
AND that Dan Starkey will be playing Marshall Stenn (The Sontaran from 'Starlight Robbery')
Matt Fitton also reveals that "The Transcendence of Ephros" from The Third Doctor Adventures will be important to these boxsets, comfirming that the woman in goggles is Mother Finsey!
And we will be apparently "see the rise of the greatest Doctor Who villain of all...". Any theories as to who/what it could be?

(Benny New Adventures Series 2 is referred to in the 'pre-listening' list and that was all about the Rise of Sutekh, so it's possible. And he is the greatest Doctor Who villain of all.)
And oh yes, that's definitely Mother Finsey, never any doubt about it.
Looking forward to these sets very much!

('Very accessible' but stuffed with continuity from the MR, NAOBS and the 3DAs! Excellent!)

My theory on that is that Benny is likely why series 2 of the BNAs are recommend as that was probably the last time she saw 7. I think if any villain is returning it will be the Daleks. They're refenced in the introduction too the TV Movie so surely they'll make some appearance.

That listening list though - elder gods and the dark universe and Sutekh... NAOBS 2 was a closed-loop story so I'm trying to see how it connects to anything unless you-know-who does show up. Fun isn't it? We don't have long to wait.

In DWM Matt Fitton lists stories recommend before Last Day (though he does say its "very" accessible to New Comers): They always say that for every story for understandable sales/marketing reasons. No one's going to buy it if the PR says it's not accessible unless you've heard X, Y & Z first. I think it's case of "Well he would say that, wouldn't he?"

Yeah, that’s such a long list of recommended stories, that it’ll either be completely impenetrable to new listeners, or the recommendations will be completely irrelevant. It’ll absolutely be the latter and often I tend to think it’s better to consume the main event and then the recommendations / tie-ins retrospectively, as they’re usually tenuous links at best.

Only a week away and STILL no trailer!? I'm getting a strong feeling that there are some big things they wanna keep under wraps. But WHAT (or WHO) could it be? Fenric? Lungbarrow? Paul McGann? Unlimited rice pudding? Et cetera?

Only a week away and STILL no trailer!? I'm getting a strong feeling that there are some big things they wanna keep under wraps. But WHAT (or WHO) could it be? Fenric? Lungbarrow? Paul McGann? Unlimited rice pudding? Et cetera? WAIT!!! I just had a crazy thought while writing this. What if these Last Day boxsets turn out to be a secret (albeit very loose) adaptation of the legendary lost story, Steven Hall's Fifty-Fifty? For those who don't know, Steven Hall was the writer of two acclaimed Seventh Doctor audios. The short story, "The Word Lord", and "A Death In The Family" (One of the best BF stories ever). Both of these stories also featured However, Hall was also planning a third and final audio story for the 50th Anniversary in 2013. This would've been called Fifty-Fifty and featured an "big, epic and pretty brutal showdown" between the Seventh and Eighth Doctors. You can read more about it here - tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Fifty-Fifty_(unproduced_audio_story). In short, Eight travels back through his own time stream to prevent "the moment where 7 went bad". It's McCoy vs McGann! With the companions forced to choose sides. Think about it. From what we know about The Last Day, Seven is trying to find "a way to put things right, once and for all" before his forthcoming death. Perhaps Seven has caught a glimpse of his future (Time War maybe? He did learn about in the Damaged Goods adaptation after all) and doesn't believe that Eight or any of his future incarnations will be capable of preventing it and saving Gallifrey. But Eight learns about Seven's plan and tries to stop it, perhaps even recruiting Seven's former companions to stop him. We have also heard from writer Guy Adams that he believes that the Seventh Doctor era "featured the greatest villain that the Doctor Who universe has ever had – and we liked the idea that it was a villain that needed facing. This was exactly the story in which to do it" What if that villain turns out to be the Seventh Doctor himself? Having finally gone too far!
