I'll start with this, then you may want to quit reading. I am a true Christian conservative American from east Tennessee.
I'm not proud of the fact that my great great grandfather owned slaves. But I am proud of the fact, that I am the first person in my family to go to school with a black child(my black friends know they are black, just as my black friends know I am fat brat, that means I tell the truth, and try my best not to lie, and weigh over 400 pounds.) I am proud of the fact that I have never called a black person a very offensive word, I am the first in my family to do that.
I am not politically correct, I don't try to be, that would be changing the actual person I am on the inside, in other words, I don't put on a different persona in public and talk behind someone's back. I try my best not to be a hypocrite.
People don't understand that from the rural south, things are slower, friends mean much more, and we all help each other the best we can...We are neighbors, or at least I try to be, I know my neighbors, they have come over to eat, ive taken meals with each of them. I throw a big neighborhood party on the 4th of July, I smoke a lot of ribs, salmon and chicken, my wife makes the best baked beans in the south, and everyone brings a dish of their own, we drink beer, talk, play cards, and try to take care of each other, no one cares what nationality someone else is, yes, we are mostly white, heterosexual folks, but some of our neighbors are Mexican, some are black, some are veterans, and most of us are getting pretty old, I myself am starting to push 50 pretty well, and I'm one of the youngins.
Everyone I know, voted for Donald Trump, if you want the reasons then you can ask me, but if you want to argue about it, then forget it. All the idiots sitting in Washington do enough arguing for the whole country. And i'd like to see everyone of them kicked out, I can't stand lifetime politicians.
I am banned from a few sites, for speaking my mind. Many places preach diversity, but they only want their kind of diversity, and Christians are not diversified enough for them, most think we have closed minds, and yes, they are closed to a certain degree, on many topics, but we are not idiots, we don't just simply believe what a preacher says, but we look at how that preacher lives, we get up and volunteer at places on days other than just Thanksgiving, we try to help out everybody, instead of just talking about it. How many food pantries, shelters, and rehab establishments do you know of, not funded with Christian labor, and money? There is absolutely none in East Tennessee that is not funded by, well, us.
I am opposed to gay marriage, not because I'm opposed to homosexuals being happy, but because a marriage is between a man and a woman, as ordained by God, and I argued for years that if homosexuals would have taken the word marriage out of it, and called it a union, or a partnership, or dang near anything else, then they would have won their fight and been reaping the benefits a decade ago, instead of still worrying about it today. But, a very loud minority of their leadership wanted to hijack the word marriage and made the fight a hell of a lot harder for them...It bothers me because I've been fighting for equality of homosexuals for longer than most of them have been alive. God does not condemn anyone for being a homosexual, and that's all i'll say about that.
If a man or woman shows up at my house hungry with their hat in their hands, you can bet your bottom dollar, I'm gonna make sure they leave full, and with as much food as they can carry. I don't just talk the talk, I walk the walk.
I'm a realist. I don't want to see millions deported, but when those folks are over here working for pennies on the dollar, and keeping wages stagnant, and not paying a dime in tax, it does piss me off. I hate abortion, I would never let my kids have an abortion, I would raise that child myself, and pay all the bills, but I know I cant pay the bills for every unwanted child in America, but using abortion as a form of birth control really does push my buttons. A woman does not have the right to kill unborn babies time after time just because she cant keep her legs closed, that argument about it being her body is a bunch of horse shit when it comes to that, if you have 3 abortions, you need to be fixed because you cant help yourself and yes, you are no better than an animal(and that was me being nice).
I don't think that global warming has it figured out, I don't think we have done the earth any favors at all, but I don't think we have caused all the problems with our ecology, since recorded history goes back bout 3000 years or so, and keeping track of global changes goes back really to less than a century, I just don't believe we have all the facts, And I'm a fact person, I listen to theories, but I realize that's what they are.
Most people in California, and the northern states, just think that we are uneducated redneck racist homophobes, who want to control everyone, and tell everyone what they should think and how they should act, and part of that sentence is true. I am proud to be a redneck, I've worked in the fields until ive burned many days, I still go to the cemetary in Moshiem once a year and place a confederate flag on the bridge burners cemetary(google the east Tennessee bridge burners), those men died fighting for what they believed in, I honor them for that, but for those that thinks slavery was the biggest issue in the American Civil War, then you are under-educated.
I can quote Scripture with some of the best, and I don't believe in any one religion, though I do belong to a Cumberland Presbyterian Church. I believe more of what Seventh Day Adventists do, but I'm not on all the same pages as them either, I do what I think God commanded, and that is search for Him, every single day, and try to live up to the example He gave us, in His Son, Jesus. 2 commandments that fulfills the whole 10. Love the Lord thy God with all your heart, and love your neighbor as yourself. I'm not perfect, I know that a true Christian realizes that a church is not a hotel for saints, it's a hospital for sinners. And not all churches actually belong to God, even if they proclaim it, I will rail against the Westboro Babtist church as long as it is a false church, just as I will tell everyone that Catholicism does not equal Christianity. No where in the Bible does it say to pray to Mary, or follow the Pope(get me goin and i'll call him the poop, so unless you want a huge lecture, don't bring up religion, you would hate for me to convert you.) I do believe in the rapture, but not the way many others do, I think the church will be here for much of it, up until the indwelling and the final trumpet of God.
If you want to talk to me and be decent, ill talk about anything you want, i'll make jokes about Trump just like I did about Obama and Bush and Clinton and Bush. The best day I know of this year was the day that Bernie Sanders got beat in the primaries, I knew Trump had a chance against Clinton, but Bernie, was just plain scary, and a socialist. I raised a liberal, and that doesn't bother me, but I also raised a socialist, and that's a real headache, cause she's also a lesbian, she is young enough to believe that she could mix the 2.
I think most Americans have forgotten about the Holocaust, most have forgotten about that war period, hell, a great number have forgotten September 11th, mostly because the younger generation has been raised by teachers and video games and whatever is on television, with little or no parental guidance at all. My wife was a homemaker, and worked a lot harder than I did and didn't earn a dime, but I do have 4 kids who treat people right, work, and pay taxes, have never been arrested, and bought their own cars. So, yeah, I think working mom's have done much more damage than good, to an entire generation.
I never graduated college, though I did go for a bit, I am a former wrestler, who gave it up to make sure his family had food, and a roof over their head. I am now a proud grandpa, A comic book collector, a season ticket holder to the Greeneville Astros(baseball), a Tennessee Volunteer fan, who enjoys Doctor Who, and the Big Bang Theory, and The Middle(it's way to much like real life).
If you have a good argument, and facts that back up that argument, please feel free to try to persuade me how I should think, I don't worry about everything, but I sure do pay more than my share of taxes, cause I own a house, and around here, that is the first increase after every election, home owners pay far to much of the taxes due, taxes for schools that those living in apartments don't pay, but they still send their kids, taxes for roads, that some don't pay, but they sure do use them roads, taxes for first responders, that take care of everyone, and I believe it's time everyone paid their fair share, and yeah, I know the most fair way to do that, it's called the fair tax, you only pay tax on the money you spend. Washington hates it, because it pretty much puts them out of business, no more IRS, no more deficit, no more crooks stealing in Washington.
A fairly long read, but now you know more about me than you wanted to, I love some of the ideals in Doctor Who, but I'm a realist and realize that it's not in a humans nature to accept someone different from them in any way, much less many ways. There is a pecking order in my life, it's really simple, family, friends, neighbors, town, county, state, country, continent, world. I don't mind feeding all the kids in South America, but not when a single kid in America is going hungry. I will not feed my dog scraps, if my neighbor is hungry.
Hope I didn't piss you off to much, but I've been banned from at least 1 doctor who site, that sits in Chicago, but what can you expect from Yankees? (they don't know that's a joke so I have to point it out, but it's a joke with teeth.)
