Looks promising.
Though bigger question based on the trailer, how in hell can Bill and her friends afford the rent on that house on student loans?

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Looks promising. Though bigger question based on the trailer, how in hell can Bill and her friends afford the rent on that house on student loans? That question was never answered in another show about 6 young people who rented fancy apartments on not-terribly-high incomes: www.imdb.com/title/tt0108778/Headcanon answer: because the Doctor manages to nobble any tyrannical politician/ CEO/ manager/ bully so effectively, employment opportunities and wages are fairer and people look out for each other a little more.

Looks promising. Though bigger question based on the trailer, how in hell can Bill and her friends afford the rent on that house on student loans? House isn't in the best condition, location, has a reputation or the owner has an ulterior motive. Maybe part of the house isn't used, so only part of it is inhabited and thus needs regular upkeep. The tower isn't accessible. Between six people a decent rent could be scraped out. As Bill works in the canteen she probably brings some food home.

I've been looking at somewhere new to live, and one place was a great price in the CBD, yet unfurnished with a beam running through the room. Cheap rent can cover a multitude of inconveniences.

The BBC describe the episode as "A huge house with a strangely cheap rent, a creepy landlord and endless floorboard creaking? No wonder the Doctor thinks something is wrong. Don't miss next week's episode 'Knock Knock'" so the cheap rent aspect is clearly part of the plot. Really looking forward to this episode as Bill's house is about 15mins away from us here in Newport and we got to watch some of the filming. Definitely seems like a creepy one and a cool location too. And we get to see some fun student life stuff that hasn't really been in Who before. The rent is not too bad either www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/3501445

I think this episode is going to be the most terrifying in a while.

David Suchet was on Breakfast telly promoting the ep and seemed absolutely delighted to be involved. He didn't need to read the script, he says, he just took the job no questions when he heard Doctor Who wanted him as the main guest star. A rather nice endorsement for the show!

Another Excellent Ep
Capaldi and Suchet sizzled, excellent effects, and a firmer determination of what the Vault is oh and the deliberate delivery of the Timelord and Regeneration factoids.

Another decent episode. Didn't quite get why the Landlord had lied to his mother about her being his daughter (what did that achieve), but all in all pretty good stuff.
And the Vault mystery intensifies...
Also those students lets at the beginning were unfortunately realistic. I saw stuff of that quality earlier this year (fortunately found somewhere slightly better).

That wasn't quite what I was expecting from the trailer...very creepy and atmospheric in parts, likeable (if thinly sketched) supporting characters and an interesting twist on the format...I liked it quite a lot, but found it rather throwaway at the same time? Magically restoring the kids at the end felt a bit deux ex machina (it seemed a weird jump cut to go straight to the vault without the Doctor/Bill even checking on everyone properly), not entirely sure why the Landlord lied to his mother about being her father and it seemed odd Bill had moved out without even referencing her relationship with her foster mother, could have done with extra 5-10 minutes to sketch out the students a bit more, and expand on the Landlord's motivations further.

Not sure about this one, for me it would have been so much better without the doctor! Clunky dialogue & god damn awful conclusion.
On the plus side I liked all the young cast, the creepyness, wood woman, mr poirot
Not terrible but capaldi back to the irratating Doctor this week.
More intrigue from the vault, but not so much nardole.
I enjoyed it, but nowhere near as much, as last week.

Had high hopes for this story but it didn't quite live up to them Took a while to get going but was decent enough story. Though my favourite bit was the stuff with the vault at the end. 6.5/10.

And I think I agree with the Doctor, I'd rather not know what Nardole gets up to on his nights off (other than confusing/getting confused by the locals) though it could make an amusinf BF spinoff

Review coming soon.
Once again, this has been the most consistently enjoyable that Who's been in a while. Absolute props to the production team with the house, and especially the sound guys. This is the kind of episode made for HD.
That said, it's very much a one and done ride. It doesn't have much going on thematically, and given that we go in the direction of family and relaitonships with the monster, I was surprised Bartlett didn't make a more explicit connection between a mother and young people. Keeping them as surrogates to ease her pain seemed like the natural thing to have done, rather than just the billionth 'eats lifeforce' bit.

Keeping them as surrogates to ease her pain seemed like the natural thing to have done, rather than just the billionth 'eats lifeforce' bit. I've enjoyed all four of the episodes so far very much, but I can't help but feel that once again the 50 minute runtime is working against the stories-and this common to many Nu Who eps, all to often there are pacing issues with the beginning front loaded with exposition and light on scares, with the ending compensating by rushing to a conclusion and skimping out on a denouement/explanation of the bad guys motives, one more pass at the script and an extra 10 minutes to expand the supporting characters/motivations would have improved this episode i.m.o. BF's one disc stories are usually 60-70 minutes for a good reason, not too long and not too short.
